I was at Downtown Disney this past Thursday (Dec. 11), soaking wet from the morning downpours, and sad that I was leaving the next day. Then, next to Magnetron (if that's the name), and near the DVC kiosk, I saw a group of castmembers checking their watches and holding bags. One said, "OK, let's go." Next thing I know, they're approaching people, saying "You're at the right place at the right time." They were giving out Year of a Million Dreams limited edition lanyards and pin sets! And of course I got one! (Would you believe some people were turning them down???!) Thank you Disney for making my day and ending my vacation on a winning note!

Yes. My sneakers were filled with water, I was soaked, and wasn't going to walk over to the Virgin Megastore. I decided to anyway. By the way, in about 3 minutes, the cast members disappeared! So you really had to be there at precisely the right moment!

congrats to you!

that same day, we were soaked thru to the skin in MK during that rain!!!

I don't think I've ever been that wet in clothes before! My dollar store parka helped, but not enough.

Why on earth would someone turn that down - free souvenirs! Even if they didn't want them, they could have taken them home and given them to relatives/friends. Some people....

I told the story, and about people turning them down, to a friend. He laughed and said he would have done the same thing: "I would have thought, what do I want with this junk? and just kept walking"! As I said to the cast member who was turned down, "My childhood hero was Soupy Sales, and every day he had Words of Wisdom. My favorite was: Take anything for free, except a punch in the mouth."

Congrats! I was there that week (Studios that day) and didn't see anyone getting any dreams. I thought I would at least see one person while I was there get lucky. Though I did see one man dressed in "professional" Disney attire he was kinda acting impatient looking at his watch and looking around though not moving from his spot. I was curious but didn't stay to find out what he was about. Hmmm...

Luckie Duckie!! : ) I too am suprised that people would turn them down, however not everyone is as "up" on goings-on as we and probably thought they were trying to sell them something or something along those lines. Ah well, that just meant you were more apt to get one! Nice going!

Actually, if some people don't want them, it leaves more for the people who are glad to get it. Better someone should turn it down than take it and then toss it in the garbage.

During our October trip we were in EPCOTand getting off the Friendship boat at Morocco. Cast members were greeting everyone with the Million Dreams lanyards. I was so happy to win!

Glad to see that the dreams are still being handed out even this late into the promotion.

I'll vouch for the torrential downpour that morning. It was our last morning at WDW and we were very glad we had our poncho's DS did have to buy socks to wear on the plane home, though. Be aware that tip boards are not always accurate. The board outside The Land said everything was not running, but we took a chance and ended up just about walking on Soarin'. Yeah for us!!

Wow! I've been to Epcot twice, both times off-season when there were not lines for virtually everything. EXCEPT Soarin'. That's great!

They could have been CMs. I've had to turn down *3* Year of a Million Dreams prizes and I'm honestly not in the parks that much. Thank goodness, they weren't any of the big prizes!! :thumbsup2

Gee, and I thought that it was great that as I was walking by the pool before I hopped on the ME bus that the CMs had MMMBOP playing :lmao:

Congrats on winning though! :cool1:

congrats!! i'm super surprised that people would turn them down.
