Just saw it, and if you haven't I highly recommend it. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Makes me want to become more of an activist. That's all, thanks LOL

Yeah, I finally bought it used at Blockbuster last week, and loved it!

We saw it at the Enzian. A powerful and incredible film. Put Sean Penn in a whole new light for me.

Should be required viewing in all high schools. All.

Glad you got a chance to get a copy, ConcK. ::yes:: Some Blockbusters reportedly refused to carry it. Not sure if that is completely true, but a friend of mine in SC told me they couldn't get it at their local as it was deemed inappropriate for their inventory.

Some advice....

Get off the computer and get a box of tissues!

I feel the same way about Sean Penn, never really cared for him much but he was great in this. After watching it, I did some research on the actual events, and it seems pretty accurate. Unfortunately that research led me to learning more about Anita Bryant, and well, it ruined my night. Nuff said on her :sad2:

My partner lived in SF during that time, and he said it was 99% accurate.

As for Miss Anita....did you know Kathy Lee Gifford was a live in babysitter for her back in the 70's? :rolleyes1

This isn't ancient history, eh? Good that those of you who are not all that familiar with it are doing some research. ::yes:: Nice to know it matters enough to you!!

Anita Bryant. I looked her up on the 'net after seeing Milk. Still whacked. Still weird.

Unfortunately, the damage she did is long reaching and still lingers today. :(

I was still at home, in the northeast when Harvey and the mayor were murdered. I remember the verdict and the sentence. :headache::mad: I remember being horrified at the "Twinkie defense" and hearing my parents say how ludicrous that was...

Ugh. Bad things. Bad times. :(

No not ancient history, but truth be told I was about 6 years old and totally unaware of anyting at that time other than Sr. Margaret in first grade, the pope, cub scouts and hoping to be an altar boy. Can we say sheltered? *Love* the Catholic Church, but anyway.......

Had the opportunity to live/work in the NYC area as a young adult, so I was familiar with Stonewall (use to go there daily actually) but this was news to me.

Twinkies my tail, he was a closet case if ever there was one, just too bad he couldn't come to terms with it. (Totally my opinion btw). Anywho, glad this film was made and I can only *hope* it has enlightened a few peeps.

And Kathie Lee, God love her. Once, just once I got in to see Letterman when I was in NYC, and damned if she wasn't the guest star....I wanted to cry. LOL

Hey, I'm impressed you did the research!

I'm with you on the closet case thing, too.
