Last year I used Tiffany Towncar and made the pitstop at Publix, but now with magical express I'm wondering what to do about my son's milk?

I can't see paying for a carton as we need it. I'd much rather have a gallon in the resort fridge. Plus I also had packed light last year and purchased his diapers, snacks and wipes at Publix too.

What are people doing now?

Is it worth it to have a grocery store deliver these items?

Well we didnt have a fridge at POP so our scenario is a little different, but we were on the dining plan, and milk was considered a snack, and there was so much food I never used my snack. So at night on they way back to the room, I would stop and get him a thing of milk. Only 1/2 of it would fit in a take n toss cup anyway, he would drink that, and I would put the rest on ice, and he would drink it in the am.

During the day, we would order him a milk at the restaurants, NONE of the table service restuarants charged us for his milk.

Thanks Staci but my son drinks his full 24 oz of milk and some days he can drink even more than that if I let him.

We're not on the dining plan. DH couldn't understand that on the plan we'd be eating counter service meals for dinner. To him that's a snack! :rotfl:

My other option, was to just pack parmalot. I keep a spare box in my diaperbag and in my car at all times.

I can't advise on the milk since I just plan to buy it down there, but as for diapers, etc...I am packing a small suitcase with diapers, wipes, lil' swimmers, & take n' toss cups...by the end of the trip the suitcase will be empty & ready to hold all of my Disney purchase for the trip home. Hope that helps...have a great trip!

Same here when the girls were little and all the diapers, wipes etc were packed in the bag that ended up bringing all the stuff purchased home.

You can rent a frig at any othe resorts by request, unless you are staying at on of the home away from home resorts they have frigs in the rooms. I always took a small soft cooler filled it with ice from the vending machine and bought the larger milk at the resort store and stored it in their for night time bottle & that way I had it for first thing in the morning before ending up at breakfast. When they were really little I had a single bottle portable warmer that plugged in.

If you are staying at WDW, which you must if you are using DME, then WDW now offers a complimentary fridge in every room.... I think it was part of their 50 year celebration.

Anyway, I think that these are your options.
1. Use wegoshop.com to deliver the items to your room.
2. Take a taxi to the store.
3. Use Goodings.com to deliver the items to you.
4. Take Disney bus to last dropoff at Downtown Disney and walk through Hotel Plaza to get to Goodings yourself.
5. Buy milk at the souvenir shop at your resort (they now seem to regularly have 1/2 gallons milk, reasonably priced).

I have done #4 a long time ago... it's a long walk with groceries!

My toddler was 16 months last trip and drinking a 1/2 gallon of milk each day. We had a rental car (we skipped DME because of many reasons, including needing store access), so we went once to Goodings to stock up. But the rest of the time we did #5.

We LOVE www.wegoshop.com

We always use them to deliver diapers, wipes, fruit, milk, snacks for the room, etc. Their fee is very, very reasonable and they are great to work with. I can't reccomend them enough.

Thanks!

I didn't know they sold 1/2 gallon milk at the resorts. I also didn't know Goodings delivered.

Thanks again! I'll probably just buy it at the resort!

I just got back from a visit to ASsp. They and all the other resorts sell 1/2 gal of milk 1%, 2% whole in the gift shop it is usually way in the back. they also have chips and snacks, bread, 2 litre soda etc. Have you thought of packing a suitcase for the little one (most airlines allow at least 2 per person) with the essentials, diapers, wipes and snacks. Just make sure the suitcase doesnt weigh over the allotted amount. I do this for the trip down and have a suitcase to pack all the extra's in for the trip back. :cheer2: I do this as I purchased 2 bags, one on each of my first 2 trips for the extras. My DH told me to just start bringing an extra suitcase from now on as each bag cost $79. :rotfl:

Now he makes sure there will be at least one empty bag for me to fill up on the return trip. :love2:

I loved the idea of having a nice cool glass of soda, oj for breakfast, or as a midnight snack at the pool with my home cooked muffins from the extra suitcase.

BTW the values do indeed charge the $10 per night for the fridge. I was given one free as I am diabetic and had a note from my DR that I had to have healthy snacks IE yogurt, milk, juice etc on hand for my diet. We are trying to control with a healthy 6 meal a day regime. Wow what a lot of food. But I am actually losing weight YEA

Unless something's changed in the past few months, WDW VALUE resorts do not offer free refrigerators. They cost $10 per night plus tax at the value resorts, but are complimentary at all other resort levels. The free 'fridges and the moderate resorts started before the 50th anniversary celebration started.

And by the way, I used Gooding's for delivery and was completely satisfied. $10 flat fee, $50 minimum, and best of all, you don't have to be in your room to wait for the delivery -- they deliver to Bell Services and BS delivers to you when you're good and ready for it (and they even keep your cold stuff cold). It's that feature which sold me on Gooding's.

We're staying at the Beach Club so we should have a free fridge.

I'm going to try to use only one med/lg suitcase this trip as we (DH) tends to overpack (would you believe the man needs a duffle bag just for his shoes! :rotfl2: ) I tried having a suitcase for each of us on a cruise last year and it was just too much luggage to manage, plus the baby, plus the stroller etc... Until DS can carry his own luggage, his stuff has to go in with ours.

I do pack a small foldable tote bag that slips in my suitcase pocket and I use it on the return for my souvenears. We usually bring the same items home after each trip so we know now how much room to allot.

Now that I know the resorts sell 1/2 gallons of milk, I'm debating if I should send a package to the resort with DS's diapers, wipes, and snacks. I wasn't planning on spending $60 at Goodings to cover the fee and minimum. Anyone done this before? How many days prior do I need to ship it?

Thanks for all your tips!!!

A CM at WL told me that as part of the 50th celebration, all WDW rooms would get a free fridge. We went in September, so I guess it has changed.

Shipping does not make sense to me. Anyway you can ship diapers, wipes and snacks will definately be more than the $10 Goodings fee or the $12? $15? Wegoshop fee. I don't think wegoshop has a minimum. Try them.

If wegoshop doesn't have a minimum I'll go with them. Otherwise, I'll just ship the diapers and wipes there. I can't see diapers and wipe costing more than $10 to ship.

I'll see, I have some time to think about it.

According to the official WDW website, that CM at WL was wrong. Check out http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/resorts/roomsDetail?id=PopCenturyResortGuestRoomsListingPage, and look under "Room Features" in the middle of the page.

It's been my experience that the CONSENSUS of DISboards posters is more accurate than information from any one individual WDW CM. Here was one experience when I was there May 8 - 14 (which was after the 50th anniversary celebration started). My mother-in-law didn't believe any of the info I'd researched and gathered in the months leading up to our trip, because she has a distrust for all things Internet. I was armed with info from the knowledgable posters here, as well as a printout of the May 2005 park/parade hours from http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/May05.cfm. So she asked a MK CM about Spectromagic, and the CM told her Spectromagic was held every day at 9:00 p.m. 7 days a week and that the park closed at 9:00 p.m. every day we were going to be there. The information from the CM was wrong, and the info I got from a CONSENSUS on these boards (as well as from a specific published page) was correct.

I had another incident with CMs and information that I was flabbergasted by. I'd read in the Times Guide at MK that on EMH nights, characters would greet guests 30 minutes after the start of EMH in the Castle Forecourt area. We had no idea where the Castle Forecourt was, so we asked around. None of the janitorial CMs in the area knew. The assistant manager of CRT didn't know. The vendors didn't know. The only way we found out was when characters started springing up everywhere near the front of Cinderella Castle (such as near the Walt and Mickey statue, near the road to Tomorrowland, near the road to Liberty Square, under each of the two covered areas/pavilions on either side of the Castle stage [at ground level], etc.). SO, it's been my experience that CMs know more than we do about their specific job duties, but we as a group helping each other out may know more about other aspects that that specific CM does not work with. So I guess what I'm saying is that we reading the DISboards know more about what happens (in the public eye, at least) at Value resorts than a CM working at a deluxe resort. :goodvibes I guess it's kind of like avid sports fans who read a lot know what's going on with the Philadelphia Eagles better than a clerk who works in the Eagles' ticket office.

hi,

instead of shipping diapers, wipes and snacks, you might want to try packing them in a cardboard box, checking that with your luggage as the baby's bag and then tossing the box at the resort. we were dropped off at the airport at home, and then took magic express to the resort, so we didnt really have to handle the box at all (just got it to the counter from the car) and we didnt have to ship the supplies or anything,,,,just another option,,,,

I didn't know you could check a cardboard box as luggage. I figured with all this security at the airports, you could only check "luggage". That's an option though...

It's just my son is very particular with certain things like what flavor breakfast bars, his particular juice, etc.. If I can't find it down there, it would just ruin my vacation. He's too young to reason with. That's why I'd rather just ship stuff knowing its there.

Even if it costs me $30 to ship, let's be reasonable here - look how much these disney vacations costs!!

We have used cardboard boxes several times when traveling, both overseas and within the states, and since 9-11. Only once did we have to open the box for them to check what was inside (and that was before 9-11). It just goes through the x-ray machine and is labeled with our name and address just like everything else. Just make sure your box doesnt exceed the allowable size mentioned by the airlines, or the weight. We always make sure to duct tape the seams for durability. The one time they did ask us to open the box, they resealed it with their tape.

Goofy- I was just going to mention this before I caught page 2! We just got back and packed a nice-sized box with 2 cartons of soymilk (it doesnt need refrigeration til it's open) crackers, oatmeal, swimmers and diapers, champagne and the like. It really worked out perfectly, and we didn't have to bring it back ;) 'Course we ended up buying a souvenir bag anyway, but who's counting!
