DS has a milk allergy and drinks soy milk. Anyone know if you can get down there. I have thought about shipping it because we are flying. We are not renting a car so I am trying not say we will go to the store to get it.

Anyone know if you can get soy milk anywhere? We are staying at All Star Movies and I called and the store didn't carry it.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if the resorts stock the soy milk but someone else did recently post that she saw it at POP.

I bet it would be rather expensive there.

My son was on soy formula due to his allergy when he was little.
(He did grow out of it at age 2, thank goodness).

When we traveled by plane, I just brought several large cans of the powdered formula.

I haven't noticed it much. If you have PS at restaurants, you can call and state your allergen and they can and will accomodate in most cases. Especially important if the allergy is restrictive to where you can't have any dairy at all.

I would just otherwise take a suit case with and fill it with your soymilk (aseptic containers)--even make that your carryon if necessary. Then use that as your souvenir bag when you return.

The other suggestion--instead of shipping a case (unless you can find some place that will do it for you for cheap), get a towncar service that includes a grocery stop and stop at a Publix who I know for certain carries the aseptic containers. Super Walmart carries Silk. So if you have a fridge, you could feasibly stop there and just get that. Not sure if they have the aseptic containers.

My daughter prefers soy milk and we are driving distance so I just carry silk along with me.

WDW is great for kids with food allergys. My youngest DD had milk allergy. Let the CM know when you are making ADRs and they will mark it on your ADR and give you a number to call to speak with the chef. Sometimes I called, but later didn't because the chefs go through this about a dozen times a day. Remind your hostess, she tells the chef, he comes out tells you what they can eat and will make special things for the DK. But if you call ahead they will also get out the rice dreams ice cream, etc. It always made my DD feel so special because she normally couldn't eat icecream out.

I usually just put a couple fo the boxes of vanilla soy milk in my carry on and popped it in the fridge when I got there. My DD doesn't like plain soy milk, that is what the restuarants have, so I always took vanilla so she had at least one glass a day in the room.

I heard someone talking about not packing soy milk and had to have it. Room service brought them some but it was huge $$$$.

I have READ you can request they stock it at your resort. There is another thread about Milk Allergys on the resturant board.

My ds has since outgrown this allergy, but when we were at the CR when he was three i simply went to the counter service rest, asked for he manager, gave him the dates of our stay and he made sure they stocked it for the duration of our stay.

My niece is allergic to regular milk and soy milk. Much to our surprise POP not only stocked RIce Milk they also stocked Rice Dream Ice Cream.

Contact Guest relations before you go and check on what they stock. No sense lugging extra weight if you don't need to.

Hi we just got back with a 17 month old with milk and egg allergies and I am not able to eat it either. Our resort did have some soy milk (you had to ask for it.) I don't know how much it was. We went to the store and got what we wanted.

My local store used to carry juice box size silk milk, I loved it. It wasn't that pricey either. They stopped. I am very sad about this. I did have some and brought them with me. That was helpful.

My trip report has a lot of info on what we were and wen't able to eat. Here is a link to it.

Just a warnining, it is long. Sorry! ;)

No resturant ever offered it to us though. (mostly just apple juice for her to drink.)

With a child with food allergies it really is worth it to have food with you that you child can eat. Much easier. Either ship it, grocery stop or get a delivery.

Good luck!

We did get a lot of soy or rice dream ice cream.
