Sorry for what has probably been thoroughly covered.

I am going to Disney with a friend and her daughter (12). She is retired military. Her daughter as a military card. We would be wanting to use the military tickets and maybe the room discount.

However, it is likely that I will be taking the girls and she will meet us much later in the day or even the next night. Since her daughters name will be on the reservation and she has a card will we be able to check in to the hotel and use the tickets before the mom arrives?

The military card holder will need to be there to show I.D. there's a possibility they will forget to ask, and if you're going to be there anyway no harm in trying. tickets will be harder to swing without a military i.d. card, I wouldn't count on that.
She might call ahead and explain and see if they will make arrangements for your stay.
They'll ask for the military sponsor's card and person whose name is on the reservation.

If staying at a Disney resort you should be able to add the dining plan, but it will be the traditonal price.

The 12 year old can NOT use the dependent ID to purchase and/or activate the military tickets.

From the WDW military discount page:
"Eligible Service Members (or their spouses) who purchase Disney 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets for admission to the Walt Disney World Resort for themselves and their family members and friends will be required to activate those Tickets at Walt Disney World theme park ticket windows, no later than September 30, 2012, in order for those Tickets to be used. Valid military identification will be required."

I was wondring too my hubby is retired we only need 3 for us can we get all 6 and use them back to back? or if other family goes do we have to stay in same park at same time or can after the ticket is activacted we can go own way? would we have to enter parks in am together? Grandma likes to sleep in??

Each member will have their own ticket with their name on it. They are scanned separately, so they can be used separately.

Yes, you can use them back to back.
No, once they are activated you are able to go your own ways. The active duty member does not have to be present when you enter the parks. Only initially when you activate them.

Also, if you're staying at SOG the person who is eligible to stay there (member or spouse over the age of 21) will have to be the one to check into the hotel. Especially since the 12 year old cannot assume any responsibility on charges for the hotel room or the guests in your party. This is directly from the Shades of Green website:

"You must accompany your guest at time of check in. Sponsored guest will not be authorized to check in without the sponsor being present"
