What does my brother need in order to buy the Disney tickets w/ a military discount? He is retired military but doesn't have his card. He has his service record but he's leaving in a week and doesn't have time to get another card.

He must have a military ID. There is no alternative.

Yes, this exactly.

If he doesn't have one he will need to get full price tickets. If he has a military discount on the room it will be removed and the rate will go to rack rate.

Does he live near a base? It usually doesn't take too long to get an I.D. But if he plans to try to get one, he needs to call and find out what days that office is open. With the sequester, most civilian employees have lost a day of work each week (or more), and at our base they close the ID office one day a week now to make up for it and have shorter hours. So some military services are delayed.

Does the military discount extend to multiple rooms if they're paid for by the same person? For example, an ex-military grandfather wants to take his extended family who will stay in three different rooms, do all the rooms get the discount or just his?

I don't think so as part of the requirements of the offer is that the military member must stay in the room.

However, I do believe that they can sponsor multiple rooms at Shades of Green.

Also, it is important to note that one must be either active or retired military, not simply a veteran to take advantage of Disney's offer.

It extends to 3 rooms, and they don't all have to be paid for by the servicemember. We went 2 years ago with my cousin and her son, I booked her room at the same time as ours with the military discount and did pay her $200 package deposit, but she paid the balance herself. We just had to show military ID at check-in.

Same as other discounts, the qualifying military member can book up to 3 rooms with the discount.

They are also now allowing 100% disabled military members.

ETA: sorry Claire! Completely mimicked what you said!

The "ticket sticky" on the Theme Parks board says the following:

A service member has a current active duty, including active reserve, or retired ID card from the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corp, or Navy. This includes disabled veterans whose ID Card indicates DAVPRM.

I would bring the military ID card that has the designation given in this information.
