We are going to WDW this July. My granddaughter's dad has just joined the Army. As in, he left for boot camp in Missouri last Tues. Can he purchase our tickets at his base? And does he have to be there when we activate them at WDW?

As we haven't had anyone else in the family in the service this has never come up. In researching ticket prices I found this and wondered if it was something we are entitled to and could use. Thank you

And THANK YOU!! to all of our military servicepersons everywhere!!

Wouldn't this be your SIL? (Son in Law) The Army has Basic Training--Having been an MC girl I was always calling it Boot Camp and DH had to drill it in my head that the Army calls it Basic.

Since he's in Basic in MO I'm guessing his MOS is either MP,Engineering or Chemical. In days past he wouldn't be able to breathe while in Basic much less run to the ACT office to get hooked up with Disney tickets nowadays though he may be able to but don't count on it.

If your daughter is his spouse(I really need clarification on the "granddaughters dad") then she should be able to use her ID to get the companion tickets (which means if she does then they're gone and they won't be able to get more when he gets home) and she will need to be traveling with you to WDW because she will need to be the one to activate them at the Main Entrance. The names for each person the ticket is bought for will be printed on the tickets when she gets them.

HTH! If you have any other questions feel free to ask!!

Thanks, I knew I was going to mess up the proper wording for things:confused3

No he and my daughter are not married. So it sounds like this is not an option for us. No big deal, DGD is only 2 so she doesn't need a ticket. The rest of us were prepared to pay full price anyway. But I saw this deal and got a little excited. You know how it is, any money you can save at Disney!!:thumbsup2

He went with us last time so maybe in the future if they offer something like this again we can take advantage. Thanks for the info.

since the baby's father is not married to her mom, did the baby get an ID card? If so, her mom may be able to purchase the tickets at SOG since the baby isn't old enough to take herself on vacation. I know several former spouses and mom's of kids with dads on active duty that hadn't married that were able to purchase tickets when they accompanied their kids to WDW the last time Disney offered a military deal. SOG, at that time, said it only made sense that the kids couldn't vacation alone and the kids were entitled to the tickets and could give them to whoever they wanted. I'd suggest calling SOG, explaining that the dad can't come with you, but the baby is his dependent, and seeing if they'll follow the same policy this year.
