I have the military ID so will be getting the tickets for myself, my daughter and her family. Both of us have already linked our MDE accounts. Should I enter the tickets through my MDE or does she have to do through hers? Approaching 60 days and want to be ready.

Thanks

I wrote a pretty lengthy post on my blog about this subject. Essentially the paper ticket you get from ITT on base is NOT your ticket and you can't sign up for FP+ until you get to the park and get your real ticket. Unless things have changed in the past year, that's the experience we had in December 2013, our first military trip to Disney

I can relate my experience. I received the vouchers for the Military Salute Tickets and used the MDE app to link the voucher # to MDE. My MDE account was set up so that I manage the tickets to all in our group. If you and your daughter are keeping track of your own tickets, you may each link your own tickets to your own accounts. Just remember: linking a voucher is not the same as activating your ticket. It still must be activated at Guest Relations.

Not sure if this has changed since Dec 2013, but this is not true now. You can enter the voucher number into MDX and book FP+ ahead of your visit.

It's still not your ticket, and even if you DO receive a ticket in advance, you have to activate it at the gate. But you can definitely enter it into the system to book FP+.

That's super helpful to know. It didn't matter too much for us because we went when it wasn't too busy and were able to get plenty of Fastpasses at the park but it was still annoying to not be able to sign up for them in advance. We're no longer military so it doesn't matter anymore but my grandparents are retired military and are going in May so I'll have to let them know

I was able to enter my voucher # in Sep 2014 and get my FPs then and I do know that they have to be activated at the gate. Still wondering if it matters which (mine or my daughter's) MDE account is used to enter the voucher numbers. I've only done solo trips since the new system started.

It should not matter, since even though they are linked, they are still "yours and hers" MDX accounts. Does that make sense? Linking them doesn't change ownership. And the system just recognizes whether it is a valid ticket media, which military salute tickets certainly are.

Have a great trip!

Thanks Sue. I'm looking forward to this trip. I've done the solo trips the past couple of years and had not planned a trip in 2015. They decided to do the EEC this year (turned out to be last) and I decided to go with them.

You will definitely be able to enter the voucher numbers and make FP at either 60 or 30 days out depending on where you stay. When you arrive you will have to trade in your vouchers and they will activate your tickets. They changed the rules last summer as so many people complained about not being able to do FP until they arrived at the park. As for MDE, I would suggest using only one account as the whole system can be glitchy. We learned that the hard way last year.
