Used these tickets for my parents on a trip starting 5/5 and on a trip with my brother and niece on 6/3. My mom is the veteran, and she paid for the tickets on base at the MWR and received a piece of paper with a barcode and each guests' name. Went straight to the gate with the paper print out, and on both trips they asked to see the accompanying military member's ID on the first use. The ticket holder was issued a regular park hopper ticket at the gate, and no ID was required for subsequent days.

Interestingly when my mom and dad used theirs on 5/5, the machine at the gate spit out a parkhopper that said it expired 10/1/11. But when my brother used his on 6/3, the ticket that came out expired on 10/1/2012. There are blockout days associated with this ticket, including July 4th.

ETA: This was for DL tickets, and they cost $99 for 3 day parkhoppers, no MM.

There was a change that just came out in late May that the Armed Forces Salute program is extended to September 30, 2012. For detailed WDW information, go to the Everything About WDW Tickets sticky in the TPA&S Forum and look at Post #17. You can get there directly from the link in my signature.

I had read that they had changed the policy and were going to extend the program. I just thought it was interesting that it applied even to tickets that were already bought. All tickets used by various members of my family were bought at the same time, in early-mid April, yet depending upon when they redeemed it, the expiration date came out differently on the actual parkhopper. So for DL tickets, no need to update them at the base or anything if you bought them awhile ago.

I recently got back from Disneyland using the 3 day military hopper tickets. I had to show my ID 3 times. The first day which was expected, but the other two days were when I was park hopping or returning from lunch outside the park.

When you exchange the tickets, the back states they are 3 day armed forces tickets. Maybe it was just the ticketing agent, but two of them who asked me to show my military ID had also served in the military as well and we has a short exchange of where they served and what branch.

My paper print out stated Oct 2011 was their expiration date, but the cashier agent said not to worry, they were good until Sept 2012. I asked if that was possible since it clearly states in writing that it expires Oct 2011 and she told me not to worry. (I had an extra ticket, because someone couldn't go last minute, so I was debating what to do with it).

Also interesting comment the cashier stated was these tickets were not the traditional hopper tickets where they expire in 14 days. She stated i could use one day that day, then one day 6 months from now or how ever I wanted but they wouldn't expire at all until Sep 2012...... Not sure I would attempt that.

P.S. Nearly 40 and first time I ever visited Disney June 2-6, 2011. Now an addict and looking for my next trip back!

You can absolutely use the tickets after 14 days!! We never do because we always use them up (), but it's possible. :thumbsup2

I'm willing to bet it was curious CMs because not everyone who has Salute tickets will have a military ID. It's just necessary to activate the tickets.

Hope you get back soon!
