Military Salute - Sea World, Busch Gardens, etc.

Longs, You Rock!

Travelitis, That would be corresponding with what Military Holiday, I conclude you the winner, of the great debate!!!

I hope that is in time for your vacation! And that they offer an extension for those unable to use it do to deployment!

Time to start digging up yard sale Junk! When this will be your 2nd trip in a six month period on the military pay scale, you have to do something to convince your dh you know that money doesn't grow on the trees outside of your quarters! Although the points earned from Disney Credit Card, might equal a third trip this year, hummmm, I wonder if he would notice!

Have a great day, everyone!

Wahoo - LOL! This is our 3rd trip since Thanksgiving on a military salary. We are kindred spirits! We got APs for dh and me, and next time, IF SOG still offers APs, we'll get them for the whole family. We're willing to make quite a few sacrifices to travel, and I understand about showing the spouse you know money doesn't grow on trees. Hope your garage sale goes well! I'm an eBay girl.

My husband's co-worker (National Guard) just went to Sea World last week. She was asked to present her ID card and was given the free admission for her family. No problems. Very easy.

We are waiting to buy Tickets (fortunately we happen to be Florida Residents although we don't reside there now) until we see what type of special they offer for Military Members.
On Friday The View, which is owned by ABC, is having a salute to Military Members show.... what a perfect platform for Disney to announce an offer. Just a guess...but probably wrong, LOL. Plus it wouldn't coinside with the CM told me on the phone.

I can't wait to get to Disney, it has been 2 years since we have been into the parks....last year we had my Daughter's 6th Birthday at the Sancastle Club at the BC but didn't do the parks. We have lots of surprises planned for this trip including Breakfast at the Castle.

I have always planned on waiting to buy my park tickets from SoG since they have the best prices I have been able to find for what I want.

Having said that, I had the opportunity a couple of weeks ago to purchase my tickets at an AF Base at the same price offered by SoG. I decided to wait to see what, if any, type of offer Disney would make after I saw this thread. My family is going, regardless, but every little savings helps! :teeth:

We got seasonal passes at a base near DH's reserves for less than what SOG sells them for. The savings for 4 tickets added up. BUT, we will not activate them if we are in on the WDW deal. They may have stiff limits on "who" qualifies though.

Where is that?? I have been looking everywhere, and SoG has been the best price I could find anywhere. Especially when you take into account the no taxes thing!

The ITT office at the base (Vance AFB,OK)we are stationed at offers the 4 and 5 day park hoppers a few dollars less than SoG does. I've been told it's different at each base.

I can vouch that it is different at each base. Here at Tinker AFB OK the tickets at ITT are a few dollars more than SOG (I always figured it covered postage ;)) So even in the same state, at Air Force bases the prices are different. It think part of it is that ITT is actually contracted, not base run so every contractor can set their own prices within reason.

I'm sticking with my original (on another thread) prediction of them announcing around Armed Forces Day (May 17th) it's a Saturday so either the Friday before or the Monday after but certainly before Memorial Day (May 26th) ;) But I really like the May 12th date!

NAS Jacksonville beat SOG. Yes, no tax is great! We paid less for FL seasonal passes ($178 adults, $152 children-no tax) than people pay for regular 4 day hoppers:D !
I did have to fax SOG for their seasonal pass rates as they were not listed. DH had to go by NAS anyway, so he picked them up near the PX.

Tickets are under "services".

Thanks BibbidiBobbidiBoo.

Unfortunately I am not a FL resident, so I cannot take advantage of those awesome prices! But for the tickets I want, JAX is a little cheaper than SoG.

Since DH also works at an NAS here in New Orleans, I'll have to check out there next time I am on base.

Actually DH is at an Army base nearby. But it is small and no ticket sales.
Did you see if the NAS in New Orleans has a web site? You could even possible find the phone number and call them to compare. Good Luck! The difference for us amounted to a dinner out :D .

We're in a remote area, meaning the base we call is 5 hrs. away in Fort Worth, and they're higher than SOG. Even if another base would sell them to us less than SOG, we're going to take the gamble. The 1st day we want to go into Disney is May 27, so if nothing is announced by then, it's still OK.

As far as Sea World and Busch Gardens, there is a very informative FAQ section that clearly details who qualifies and who doesn't. The active duty person does not have to be with you, and they are already saying extensions are possible.

You're also supposed to be able to download the form you need to fill out, but I couldn't find a link for that anywhere, so I e-mailed them. You can get the forms at your ticket office or at the gate.

Anyone heard anything about universal? I was just wondering if they are going to be offering anything?

and the promotion last year for disney, was that one admission into EACH park?

p.s. Disney has great discounts for military memebers on their cruises. We are going in July cat 9 two adults and two kids 12,14 for 1087.40

How long is your cruise? We have only been on RC, but plan to do Disney next. Who did you book it with? Not ready to plan this yet, but want to file this info away! Thanks :D !

I booked with a local TA, which now I wished I hadn't. She didn't do anything for me. I had to find all of the discounts and perks. Afterwards I found out that I couldn't change my reservation without having her call for me. (I really do not like that, in fact I lost a room because of it) If I were you I would hang out in the disney cruise forum for awhile before I decided to book with someone. AAA is giving away free drink mugs if you book with them. Also disney has promotions at different times. DU also has specials from time to time. Just like with any disney vacation, I really pays off to do some research first.
