Military Room-Only Discounts

I am grateful for the discounts offered to the military! I do have a question, though. We made ressies at POFQ for 8/17-8/25 and cannot get a standard room. I made the reservations 7 months in advance, so I thought that would be early enough, but we have to pay more for a king bed (which won't work for 4 of us.) I have called once to see if any standard rooms with 2 beds have opened, but we were again told there are no rooms available for the military discount in a standard room.

Should I keep hoping for a cancellation, or do they really offer standard rooms for codes?
We can always cancel and get rooms at Shades of Green for less, but we really like POFQ.

They do - I had one at POR last year (standard view, which really was upgraded to garden view once we got there). You just have to catch it at the right time.
I've been trying for months to the second portion of our trip at POR for months, and there are no more discounted rooms available (why we are staying at BC for the second portion).

There are only a select number of rooms at each resort for discounts
And sometimes your cheaper rooms don't apply
For example at cr we had a standard view room booked and when I changed to mil discount (which was on the first day the discount was announced) they said I had to upgrade to garden view that no standards at cr were on discount

As the PP's have stated, it all comes down to availability. Before our upcoming July trip became a Poly/BC split stay we were booked at WL at various times...early on, we could book a standard room, but as time went on, there were only woods view bunk bed rooms and up available. Just keep checking though, what you want may open up! Good luck!
