Hi! My husband is a DOD civilian employee, so we're eligible for the military discounts at universal. Does anybody know if they are like Disney where they only set so many rooms aside to give the discount on? We're looking at going Easter week for 2-3 nights, so i figure if they limit it, then the discounts for that week are probably all booked up by now... just trying to save myself a long wait on hold and a phone call HAHA

I believe they are limited. I called last week and found military rates on a basic room at Hard Rock for early March ($429 3/6-8). I had no wait on hold so it's worth calling.

Can't answer your question, but found your post interesting as my son-in-law is also a DOD civilian and we had no idea he would qualify. Have to dig into this more, check if this works for Shades of Green also.

oh- it definitely works for DOD civilians!!! we are booked at Shades of Green in november.... and we've also bought the military discount tickets through Shades a couple times, too. DOD civilians can't get the super discounted military Disney tickets... but there is some discount, basically saving the tax. but, hey, savings is savings! :-) And we got the great Freedom Pass deal for Universal tickets, too- its pretty much an annual pass for $200 a person- unlimited visits to universal for the whole year. AND we just went on a DCL cruise in December with the military discount, too. So 100%, look into it :-)

Thanks! Good to know their hold times aren't as bad as Disney's right now LOL I'll give them a call this week :-)

Thanks for the info. My SIL is not a huge theme park fan, but my DD is, and since they are about to have their first child I see some Disney trips at least in their future.

i get it! My husband isn't super into Disney... but somehow we end up back there at least once a year HAHA They should look into the Disney Cruise Military discounts- its the Disney magic without the craziness of the theme park LOL makes an awesome family vacation!

I'm assuming you've already booked at this point, but if anyone else finds this thread--as of right now DoD civilians are eligible for the Military Freedom Pass, but they are NOT eligible for the military rates. That's per Universal's booking agents and it actually appears on their website, but is VERY unclear.
