portions copied from the cnn.com article above:(CNN) -- Military aircraft will return to the skies around the nation's capital to help search for the cold-blooded marksman who has killed nine people, the latest victim a woman gunned down just a few feet from her husband

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Tuesday night approved an FBI request for use of the military aircraft. The planes, equipped with high-tech surveillance equipment, will be flown by military pilots accompanied by federal agents.

Meanwhile, the brazen slaying Monday night of FBI employee Linda Franklin apparently was the closest the killer has come to being seen. Witnesses in the vicinity of Franklin's slaying and in another of the area killings saw an olive-skinned man in a white van, law enforcement sources said Tuesday.

I originally thought 'no way' this was terrorism by AlQueda! I have to admit -- with the military getting involved and reports that this sniper is an 'olive skinned' man I am starting to wonder if it is something other than a home growned creep? It makes me angry that I am thinking something like this just because of the color of a persons skin --- I didn't use to be like that!:(

On GMA they just said dark skin such as Latino or of Middle Eastern descent. Last night they said that the military have been brought in because they have technology/methods that are not available to the police.

It may be because of a link to bin Laden, but it makes sense to call up additional help since this has gone on so long without them being able to catch the sniper.

I've kind of wondered all along about this NOT being a home-grown wacko because of the timing of the recent threats. I would think, though, that if this were the case there'd be similar situations in other areas of the country. I don't know . . . . I just pray that they find him/her soon.

The move is unusual but not unheard of. For instance, during the last Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, military helicopters flew federal law enforcement agents around so they could conduct surveillance from the air.

Aircraft with sophisticated equipment would perform general reconnaissance, such as looking for or tracking the light-colored van authorities say was seen at one or more of the shooting sites. Infrared sensors that can detect flashes of gunfire on the ground also could be used, officials said.

Since when is "olive skinned" not home grown????

Thank you for mentioning this -- because that is EXACTLY was has me SO ANGRY with myself! I am not a person to normally 'judge' by the color of skin --- but I am finding myself doing that on occasion now -- and I am SO ANGRY! When they said dark or olived skin --- it made me second guess my original thought that it was just a home grown nut! I shouldn't be thinking that way --- I know that -- but have to admit that it makes me think twice. [sorry, I'm just being honest].

He might very well be a young white male with an olive skin tone. Italian, maybe? Don't jump to conclusions just yet.

Heard later today that the lights in the parking lot may have made him look darker than what he is.
