Military hotel

We are planning a trip to WDW in July (just the DH and I). I have not been in 20 years and my DH has never been. We are going to do the soldier salute and heard about a hotel near WDW that was just for military and their family. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks!

It's called Shades of Green and I believe it IS on property, but not run by Disney. There is a thread about it on the Disney resorts page on here. But the discounts on the actual Disney hotels are a better deak IMO. You on't get all of the perks at the Shades Of Green resort...but check it out!

I've stayed at SOG three times. Wonderful hotel, huge rooms, very clean, newly renovated. The rate you pay depends on your rank. Currently SOG guests get EMH and free parking at the parks. You can't get the Disney dining plan. Dining options are not the greatest. They have their own buses, or you can take a quick walk over to the Poly and catch the monorail. We love SOG and would stay there again if we didn't need a kitchen. That's our main reason for staying off site this time.

Actually depending on your rank the SOG may be better than the 40% off deal at the Disney resorts. For us its only a $5 a night difference from Values to SOG and DH and I went "SOG" because well, the rooms are 2x the size, heck of a lot nicer, and you get a balcony/patio to use. Plus the doors are inside not outside, and less crowded w/ "groups"

Can't believe I saw this a few hours after I booked at Windsor Hills (even though it wasn't much more). There are so many choices...does anyone have a favorite place to staywhen going through AVS?
