My husbands best friend called and wanted me to book a vacation for him.How do I find info for his tickets and hotel discounts? Help please. He wants to go in early December. When he gets back home. Thanks

Sandune- You need to find our if your friend wants to stay on disney property or through the SOG military hotel. Next, phone SOG to see if they have the dates that your friend will be traveling. If they don't be sure and inquire about overflow rates. This is when you can stay on Disney property for a cheaper rate. Unfortunately, my dates of Jan.3-7 don't have any overflows. Ask anyway, just to be sure. For the tickets, your friend can either buy them at his base at the tickets and tours office or at the SOG once he arrives. Hope this has helped. Jennifer

You could start by calling Shades of Green (407) 824-3400 and seeing if they have availability. The only thing is you need credit card information for someone who is going on the trip because they will charge the card for the first night's stay. If SOG is full, which it may be at this point, you can fill out a form to request overflow rates to stay at a Disney hotel. Some people have had good success with this...however, when I tried to do this, I got rack rates. Obviously, we didn't accept them. You may have better luck now though because it is closer to your friend's vacation date. You might also want to check with SOG because they say on their website that they have a special package available for service members returning from OEF (I don't know if that is where your friend is coming back from...just assuming.)

Your friend can buy tickets at SOG, no matter where he is staying, for a reduced rate. They have several options available, from a discount on the regular passes or a Stars and Stripes pass that is for the duration of the stay. I have also read that tickets are available at military bases. If he does buy the tickets at Disney, the only place he will get the discount is at SOG, so tell him to make a special trip.

If he is interested in going to Sea World, he can get free admission through the Anheiser/Busch "Here's to the Heroes" program. It admits him and up to three family members, and he can request that at the ticket booth at the park or apply online.

Hope that helps a little! My DH is headed out in a couple months, and I'm sure he would love a Disney vacation upon his return...maybe I'll surprise him :)

Hey, folks - I've just finished booking three packages for my family and my in-law family for next May when my husband is home from OIF on R&R. Here's the pricing for anyone who was thinking about using one of the packages **note** the R&R package we created is for 4 "adults", 2 children, and one infant):

R&R Package
One room (7 nights)
Breakfast and dinner buffets every day at Garden Gallery
The room, breakfast and dinners cost $1267 for my husband and I, two teenagers, two children, and one infant.
Park tickets for Stars and Stripes are an additional $263 per adult and $225 per child (3-9) but you get an additional 4% off that for R&R. That is for 7-day MYW Premium tickets.

Gold Leaf Package
My in-laws are not staying in our room so they had to book using the Gold Leaf package. For two adults, the package was as follows:
One room (7 nights)
Breakfast and dinner buffets every day at Garden Gallery *EXCEPT* for
one dinner at Mangino's
6-day MYW Premium tickets (upgrade to 7-day for $3)
a Welcome gift
a $20 gift certificate to the SOG gift shop
All that for two adults was $1551.

See you at Disney!

(P.S. My husband is an E5. Higher ranks may incur additional cost.)
