Military Discounts

I know that I can get discounts through the shades of green hotel, but does anyone know about military discount codes through Disney central reservation for half price hotels. I have tried to search for that info, but I haven't found any. Sorry if this is posted somewhere else.

Nope, all discounts are directly through SOG.

Actually, there was a "code" discount specifically for military, which was good for stays up until Feb. 12, 2003, I believe. It was 50% off rack rate for certain WDW resorts. I don't know what all resorts offered this discount, but we booked the Polynesian Garden View Concierge for $210/night this past December, tax included. I would keep checking mousesavers.com for future military codes (that's where we found the code info).

We used the military discount thru SOG and got the Contemporary for $95 a night in May! way better than 50% off the rack.

The "military discount" you're referring to through SOG is not really a "discount" so to speak. SOG has contracted with the Contemporary to book rooms in their North Garden Wing at SOG prices until renovations are completed at SOG, which is scheduled to reopen on December 15, 2003. Yes, the Contemporary rates through SOG are good, but if someone wants to stay at another resort besides the Contemporary then 50% off rack rate is an excellent price, since even AP prices usually only go up to 40% off rack rate at best.

Thanks for all of the info. I have used the SOG many times for their overflow hotel rates. They are usually very good rates. I just thought that I had seen somewhere posted that Disney CRO was giving the military a discount.

We were able to do that last year when that had the Stars and Stripes special. It was really great. My husband spent 8 months in Desert Storm the first 10 months of my daughters life. That was a great treat from Disney and we were very appreciative.

I was just hoping that they were offering some sort of discount.

Sorry, I think my post was a little confusing. That 50% military discount I (and others on these boards) received was through CRO. Last July or so, when they came out with codes through the holidays for "regular" people, they also came out with a special code for military only. I think it was "CNL" or something like that. The 50% off rack rates was better than SOG overflow rates. So yes, you did see it posted on these boards about a special "military" code.

P.S. Also, unless you're going soon, I'd keep checking mousesavers.com and also call CRO and see if they're offering any military discounts. It never hurts to ask.
