I know there is a shades of green hotel, I'm not iterested in that. Kids want all* movies. Is there a discount and if so on just the room, or does it include tickets or dining plan?

I do not believe there are military discounts on rooms at Disney unless you stay at Shades of Green; however - and you probably already know this - you can get discounted tickets to the parks through your local MWR office. :thumbsup2

We're going in September and we're not going to stay at SofG, either. Since the room rates at Shades are based on the rank of the military member, it will be cheaper for us and those we would have to sponsor (there's a whole group of us going to celebrate my DH's retirement from the army) to stay at POP.

You can also buy your tickets at the SOG ticket office (even if you're not staying there).

I am a die-hard Shades fan. I am in rate group two which means my room is $103 per night. Even though I can stay at a value resort for a tad cheaper, I have found the rooms at Shades are much nicer and more roomy. I think I read somewhere that the rooms at Shades are the largest on Disney property. And they equate to a four or five-star hotel. Plus, you can easily and comfortably fit five adults in a standard room. Plus plus, I just enjoy being around fellow military.

OK, enough of the infomercial. :rotfl:

Because Shades is available (because of a deal we made with Disney), there are no other hotel discounts on Disney. You may find some off site. The discounted tickets can be purchased either at your home base MWR before you leave or at Shades. You don't have to stay at Shades to get them.

But please do your calculations carefully. Even the value resorts can cost you more than Shades depending on the number of people you need per room. Most value resorts only fit up to four per room and cost more after the second adult (I think).

One thing I do like better at the Disney resorts is the free transportation to and from the airport. If you have a lot of people, that alone can be a huge savings.

Be sure to contact Shades of Green to check on overflow rates to the Disney Resorts. We got Contemporary for $80 a night! Also, get AAA if you don't already have it. This can get you some good discounts. During Value Season the All Stars are $64 a night and Moderates $116 a night. Keep your eyes out for any discount codes/pins. You can get discounted tickets either at your local MWR or at Shades of Green while on vacation.
