Hello!

We are planning a trip in in October for our daughter's second birthday. My twin brother who is active army maybe joining us for a few day so we hope to take advantage of getting the Salute to Military tickets they offer.

Wondering a few things to anybody who has used them in the past.

My brother is only able to join us 2-3 days. I understand he must activate the tickets at the World with us but does he also have to purchase a discount ticket for himself? Can he purchase the tickets for us and he just get 2 day ticket?

Are you still able to make Fastpass+ reservations with this type of ticket if it is not available for activation until you arrive on property?

Thanks in advance!

One of the tickets has to be used by him. It is also cheaper for him to buy the 4 day hopper than a 2day hopper. Disney charges $259 for a 2 day hopper. The 4 day military salute hopper is $209.

You can make FP reservations with them. They come with a barcode and a ticket number that you use to link them on MDE. You just can't use the fastpasses until the tickets have been activated.

Your brother can call Shades of Green and order the he tickets through them. They will ship already activated so you can skip that step.

I think the military salute 4 day park hopper ticket would be cheaper for him anyway. You can make FP reservations online at My Disney Experience. It's 30 days if not on property, and 60 days if on property. When he gets the tickets, he or you would enter the ticket numbers associated with your party on My Disney Experience. The number is on the back of the ticket. If you have any trouble, just call Disney. I had to because I had a little trouble, and they were very helpful and helped me get the right numbers in, some of the O's and 0's, D's etc. seemed a little tricky to my eyes from the back of the ticket and the My Disney will only accept certain characters on entry. But no problem with calling, very helpful. Also, I had trouble entering my youngest son, the military ticket didn't accept online because he is associated on My Disney as under 10, but just go through and accept whatever it says, and it'll link to them anyway. I had the agent online while we walked through it, and it was all fine and every ticket is linked to our party.

You should be fine with tickets as long as the vouchers are exchanged at the guest relations, and he is there with a military ID. This is how we've done it with tickets purchased from ITR. There may be other scenarios like purchasing from Shades, or how others have exchanged if the military member is not present, but I don't know how that works as it doesn't relate to us since we both have military ID cards.

We were required to have a military ID member with us. So he would have to be there to do the exchange. But really go ahead and everyone get the parkhopper from the miitary base.
Also look into the hotel disocunt for military. select locations give 40% off! we just landed a great deal for a family of 4!

Yes, Disney does great discounts for the military.

The Military tickets can be bought at shades of green in person or he can get them ts a base that sells tickets (MWR office). with those tickets you can book fastpasses, BUT they are not active until you arrive at the park for the first day WITH the military member. Once the tickets are activated, you no longer need to be with the military member.
