I finally heard from DBF!!! He had been doing a LOT of training, so he was really busy. He said he had been coloring in the Spiderman coloring book I had sent him! lol!!

What kind of traning is he doing? I always try to send something fun like that when my hubby is away... hopefully it gives them a chance to relax and have a bit of fun!!

Glad you got to hear from your DBF. Tried to talk to DH today, but the phone kept cutting out. He is able to hear me, but I can't hear him.

That's so frustrating when you get a connection like that! I'm sorry about the lousy connection. One day last week DF sounded like he was whispering at the other end of a very long tunnel. He could hear me fine but I could barely hear him! Luckily since then we've had great luck with reception.

Hi all-
I am not a military wife, I am active Army. I am just finishing up combat medic training, I graduate on thursday. It has been demanding both physically and mentally. I don't know yet where I will be stationed, hope to find out in the next couple days
any advice would be appreciated. We are new to all this. I think it is a lot harder on spouses and kids to make the adjustment to military life. I know that I will have adjustments to make when i finally get back to a "real" life. I have not been home since mid January. I will go home for about a week and then have to leave again to report to my new duty station.
If anyone wants the active military perspective on things ask and i will answer if i can.
I have been married for 13 years and have 3 kids. twins who are 12 and a 6 yr old.

Welcome Anne MN. Hope you get the location you are wanting. As a spouse the thing I find the hardest is unlike DH who has a job waiting for him when we move, I have to search. And I hate looking for jobs.

I just got a huge shock. My bestfriend is getting RIF'd after 12 years in the AF. I know it happens, but sure hate to see it happen to her. Haven't gotten to speak to her yet, just got an email from her. Since DH is deployed can't discuss this with him until he calls me tomorrow.

Well, I hope everyone is doing well.

Hang in there Peggy...I know I have those depressing days when it seems like it's starting to sink in he's about to leave. I know looking forward to that trip must be bittersweet, because the closer it gets the sooner he leaves. Just try to resolve to enjoy the time you have left with him and have a fun time at Disney.

My DH has one weekend left until he leaves, and just typing that makes me want to just bawl my eyes out. Us military wives definately lead a life most don't/can't understand, that's for sure!

We just got back from our trip and I think it's almost sunk in that he's leaving. I think I'm at the point where I've come to realize the inevitable and just want it to hurry and get here and over with. I don't know about you guys but when ever we get closer to him leaving, we start fussing. I think it's just our frustration coming out so I have to watch myself and not start a fight for no reason. Yes, I admit it, I've started fussing for no reason sometimes...lol...In fact, I've already started one fight b/c he didn't know the names of the girls from "The Girls Next Door". I know it was stupid of me and I should be glad he doesn't know them by name.

LOL, oh yes, we were on edge too before he left!! Seriously, those last few weeks I just nodded my head and did what I could to help get him ready to leave. I didn't bug or nag him about a thing. I knew he was stressed about having so much to do, being gone,etc.

Oh, no, I'm taking two weeks off from work before dh leaves....lol...DH leaves in a month 9/9....it's right around the corner. The first week and weekend is always the hardest for me. As soon as I get over that hump, it'll be fine. I just feel for our girls, the youngest is such a daddy's girl.

I'm definitely going to have to be conscious of it all and know the reason that I'm mad is of the of situation and not him. Wow, hopefully we'll get right into a routine and it'll go by quickly.

Btw, do you guys have a myspace and keep in touch with dh's through that as another venue of communication? A friend of ours, does that and he dh is in Korea for the year. I have an acct but dh doesn't.

Seems that it must be pretty normal to want to get mad/fight/fuss... with one another when a deployment is coming up... I think it is human nature and we want to put distance between one another so it isn't as painful to say good bye. Then we just get mad at ourselves after the fact!

My hubby and I are both at the point now that when he is getting ready to go, we both relax and let a lot more slide, with eachother and the kids. We just do as many fun things that we can while getting things ready to go. And always look forward to the make up time when he gets back!

No, because they can't access myspace or blogger from govt computers, which is all he has on the ship. I need to find something he can see like a blog,etc.

My hubby and I both belong to the forms on the car club that we are in and we use the PM on there to keep in touch while he is gone. We could just do e-mail, but I think that the PM is easier.........and if we are both on at the same time we can pretty much chat back and forth. It is what works best for us!

BTW... did you get the strips on the car?? How's it look if so? We saw a blue "shelby" and it had the silver strips, it looked really good... can't wait to see black ones though!!

Haven't gotten to speak to my friend yet. When she emailed me she had known for awhile and just didn't want to tell me. I know it is a big disappointment for her. Especially being in a Command position right now.

Car is at the shop now. I ordered a ducktail spoiler, but it hasn't come in yet. The auto shop guy did say the car looked good. I went last Tuesday to determine how we wanted the stripes and it was so sad. Hood and trunklik was sanded down, no rear window and both bumpers were off.

I can't wait for DH to see it. Of course he can't either. He doesn't want me to pick him up at the airport in it, so I think I will have it sitting in the driveway waiting on him. Thinking about attaching balloons to it to welcome him home. He's not big into hoopla. The guy behind us has a 66 Mustang being restored. Can't wait to see it. I will add a pic once I get it back.

Goofyzgurl - my DH and I communicate through email. Fortunately he has a laptop in his hooch so he emails before he goes to bed. A;so at his desk at work. Sometimes we will email each other while he is at work. It's the end of the day for him and just the beginning for me.

I forgot that I read that they blocked access to myspace from govt comps. I remember reading that in the AF Times not too long ago. If you all have myspace...I'm mercerbear....Just tell me you're from dis, or I'll drive myself crazy trying to figure out where I know you all from.

No Erin here, we did have an earthquake, Flossie and a tsunami advisory. Busy weather week in Hawaii!! None of them ended up really affecting where I live though, but the Big Island got the brunt of mother nature this week!

We figured out DH can access Facebook.com...do they have a PMing type feature? Anyone know of any blogs they can access? I'm bummed he can't even see Blogger.com...

Does each of the branches not have something similiar to the Army Knowledge Online that the army has? It has an instant messenger that is approved by the DOD.

Do ya'll spouses have access to personal computers or MWR computers? My husband mentioned that they have yahoo IM on those. When my husband first did not have access to any kind of instant messenger type stuff, we just would email back and forth on our AKO emails. It did take a bit longer but hey at least it was communication.

I hope ya'll get to talking to your spouses soon and that all is going well for everyone.
