Hey all ~
I was listening to Inside the Magic podcast from a few weeks ago and he mentioned a room only discount for military. I posted on his boards for more info and Joe from Dream Come True Vacations got me the code.

Code FFR
It's 40% off room only for retired and active military with valid ID's.
It runs 10/21-12/15 with
Black out dates (grrrr) November 4-10, 2007 and November 18 - December 8, 2007

Hope someone can use it!

I wonder, do they consider reservists "active" military? I know there is a difference between active duty and reservists, but there is also a difference between active and inactive reserves. Make sense? My dh is an "active" reservist. It kind of bugs me that reservists are never included in these discounts. They still serve, you know? My hubby has been deployed more as a reservist than he ever did when he was on active duty.

It doesn't matter to me because we can't go that time of year anyway, but there are plenty of other reservists that might like to know if they qualify. I wonder what the fine print is on this one.

Thanks for the code, now if I can convince family to go for a little winter trip. If not, I hope another code like this comes out for summer '08 since that's when we are planning our next trip.

Do you think that is for SOG resort only? We are booked at WL to celebrate my son's return from Iraq.

Hi, I am very interested in this!! Has anyone called yet?? My DH is MILITARY and a December trip may be possible with a GREAT discount! Joan

I just got Poly for my October 26-Nov 1. Six nights for a total of $1559.28. Rack rate is $2599....That is just about 40%. I previously had WL (Woods View Bunk Bed) for 1552. Some other prices I got for the 6 nights
GF Garden View $1721.22
WL Courtyard View $1296
WL Courtyard View Bunk Bed $1397
Beach Club Garden View $1453
" " Lagoon View $1782

SO what would you have done?????

HOpe this helps.....

This sounds like a great deal!! Hope ALL our military folks out there can take up this offer if they were planning on a Disney vacation. Hopefully - Disney is making some sort of effort for our veterans with the YOAMD and giving a military code. Kuddos to Disney for helping in their own way our veterans - now if only they would throw a free day at the parks.

Thanks again all you those of you serving in the military!

No this is for WDW resorts. Nothing to do with SOG which has there own booking seperate from Disney. I'd call and have it applied to your ressie.

I called to get the low down before I emailed my TA. I hope she can use it for part of my stay. This is better than the AP rate for a value. Good luck!

I think you did awesome. Glad someone is using this little advertised code.

Boo Hoo

Couldn't get the discount. I have four rooms reserved just for my immediate family and you have to have a soldier in each room. So I said okay just apply it to his. They could only apply it to our first night, December 15, and I would lose my AAA discount for the rest of the nights, so no savings for us!

Please check the SOG website for their special OEF (Operation Enduring Freedom) plan. It is only good for soldiers who have been deployed 12 consecutive months, and can be used up to a year after their return.

It gives you 20% off the room and 20% off the dining plan.

Before the discount, we had a family suite at $250/night for six nights, for a total of $1,750.

With the OEF discount, we have the same suite for six nights, plus ALL breakfasts and dinners for a family of four for $1,886.

Yes--for only $116 more for the entire stay, we're getting meals. I figure it will be worth it even if we just use it for breakfast!

Hope this helps someone else!

It sounds like with this one active reservists can get the discount. But I do know what you mean about the ARs not being included in many of the military promos that Disney offers. When they offered the free admission a few years back they only way an AR (and his family) could get the tickets was to be on active duty at the time and bring orders to show that. Difficult to do if you're deployed!

I was able to split my brother's part of our reservation into 2 parts, a 1 day reservation, and then a four day under the code. We already had AAA on it and was able to keep that on the original reservation (now 1 day) and saved over $400 at the GF.

It sure would be great if they offered it to reservists. It would be even better if they offer it in '08, too, cuz that's when we plan to go. :rotfl:

Whatever the details, I'm glad to see Disney reaching out to our military. Even if it's only active duty. I can't think of a more deserving group!

Anyone know if they will be doing it for late Jan/early Feb? Also, someone said a soldier had to be in the room. My dh will be deployed while we are there. Could I still get the discount? I would think that we could.

Also, how can I find out if a new one comes out for use during my dates?

 I wasn't able to get the discount either. I was told that there are no more rooms available for our 12/8-12/15 trip. But the CM said to keep trying, they may open up more rooms, or someone may cancel, wish me luck!

I was able to use the code for 11/11 - 11/17. We booked a Courtyard View at Wilderness Lodge for $192 per night. The total for 6 nights was $1296.

As someone who is active duty overseas, and sometimes doesn't find out about stuff, I just wanted to say thank you very much to Minnie Lor for posting this code!!!! I'm going to call Monday and see if I can switch my AP rate to this code...We'll have to do 2 nights at the general public code or something but for the other 5 nights, 40% should be a great savings!!

Hope you get a great deal! I'm hoping they offer it again next year.
