I got my names and addresses for Operation Military Pride. I'm guessing one is in the Navy, what does BM3(SW) mean? The other is a Corporal, part of address is MASS-3 DASC (MAIN). Wondering what this is.
I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to your questions. I was wondering how long ago you requested OMP and when you received your names. I sent a request in last Wednesday and I'm still waiting for my names . I'm sure someone here can help you with the abbreviations.
I found this link on the US Navy's web page explaining the ratings. BW stands for Botswain's Mate, and I guess the 3 would be 3rd Grade.
DASC seems to stand for Direct Air Support Center. Not sure about the MASS-3 or the (MAIN) parts.
I wouldn't be afraid to ask the service members about their assignments and what the abbreviations stand for. I'm sure they're proud of what they do and would gladly tell you.

BM3(SW) is a Navy person, it is Botswain Mate Third Class (or Petty Officer Third Class). (SW) stands for Surface Warfare, which means that this person is trained in ALL areas of a ship. To obtain and (SW) rating a person must be stationed on a ship and it takes about 6 months to obtain, the person needs to train with EVERY department of the ship (from driving the ship to maintaining the ship) and then go before a board of his/her peers and answer rapid fire questions from the board regarding the different aspects of the ship.
The address you are referring to is the corporal's unit. The military loves acronyms!
