I have watched this game since I was a kid (my dad was in the navy). It was different watching back then because we were not at war. Now, I look at those young faces and say a prayer for them because the road ahead isn't a safe one.

By the way, I cheer for army every year.

Navy is victorious today, but there are no losers in this game. I see the firsties (seniors) and try to imagine where they will be this time next year. Some may be half the world away in harm's way while serving our country. They are all winners as far as I'm concerned.


PS Air Force beat both teams this year and will receive the Commander in Chief trophy!

Oh I'm glad to see this thread because I have a question about that game. At the end, they played two songs, one for Army and one for Navy. I didn't recognize either piece, they were very slow and somber-sounding. Were they military hymns particular to each branch?

I run a small specialty food company in Illinois and would love to brighten a soldier’s holiday. I currently am offering a gift box of products that is to be sent to a random soldier who must have an APO Address to receive the gift. The contest is on our blog. They were playing the alma mater song for each academy.
