MIL vent

In a way, I can relate - I only have 1 child, but we also have 2 dogs. The IL's on occasion have come over with one bone left over from a dinner & they will give it to the first dog they see. :confused3 Uhh - you drive 45 minutes to give nothing to your grandchild & just 1 of the 2 dogs a bone????

The last time they did that, my DD told me they are a few crayons short of a full pack. :rotfl2: :thumbsup2 DD said it's not fair to the other dog, but I do give her credit, she hasn't asked the what about me question. Then again, she's probably afraid that if she says something to them, that next time they come over, DD will get the bone instead of 1 of the dogs! (& the sad part is, I wouldn't put it past them!!! )

If that's how they are now, I would hate to see it if we had a second child!

That's just really rude. If she can't get all of the grandkids something then she shouldn't get any of them anything, unless it's someone's birthday of course.

PLEASE tell my MIL that -- she will buy stuff for two of her grandkids (lots and LOTS) and then tell the third one all about it with out buying the 3rd one anything at all.

If any grandmas are reading this post....TAKE NOTE!:listen:

She would get what she wanted to give for christmas. Our most famous year was the flashlight year. I had a cousin who got a CB radio, my DB got a complete habatrail hamster system and I got a flashlight. Not a cool expensive flashligh, it was just a normal ray-o-vac $5 one. She knew I was a girl scout and thought I could always use a flashlight!

Gotta say it really hurt for a long time, but my DM just kept telling me that she means well and don't worry because its the thought that counts not the cost of the gift and she did put thought into it. 35 years later its a great learning lesson for our kids. When they are disappointed we always tell them "at least you didn't get a flashlight!"

I only giggled a little and totally NOT at you, but with you. You have a great attitude about the Flashlight gift!! I know it hurt. My cousins always got the cool gifts and I got crappy stuff.

My mother (Nana) still does it till this day. I tell her DON'T buy me clothes, DON'T buy my daughter jewelry, she doesn't like jewelry!, what does Nana do? she buys me WOOL sweaters and my daughter a bracelet or a necklace. I'm allergic to wool, thank you very much Mom, for sending me into an allergic reaction. Her excuse for buying my daughter jewelry? She says "I keep trying to get Jacqui to change and like jewelry". She won't, so don't... get a gift card instead!

To the OP: Clue Granny in about gift cards!!! They're the best invention ever!
