ok ladies, I need your help here! day of wedding, did you give a gift to your new MIL? a thank-you for the best gift of all - her son? My MIL will be the only parent at our wedding as all the others are deceased. I thought it would be a sweet gesture to have something for her....

what did you give and if you have a link to the site or store, that would be great!:goodvibes

thanks so much for all your help - I absolutely LOVE these boards - have gotten lots of great ideas from all of you!!

Can I give her a ticket away from Disney? Sorry :rotfl:
We are having locket made for our mom's. FMIL's says "thank you for giving me your son". DM's says "thanking you for intrusting your princess to me". I got them at Things Remebered. Then we are putting a wedding pic in them, when we get them.

I love my MIL . . . it's hard because I've lost my mom and sometimes I feel like DMIL is trying too hard to "replace" my mom in my life. She means well, she absolutely adores me and tells me all the time how much she loves me and how happy she is that DH chose me, which is nice to hear. She is a wonderful person and I enjoy spending time with her and doing stuff for her, but she'll never be my mom.

But anyway, at the rehearsal dinner I just gave my in-laws a card, thanking them for raising such a wonderful man. And then a couple months later, for Christmas, I made DMIL a scrapbook of our wedding - funny because I still haven't made my own :rotfl: She loved the scrapbook. It was personal, because I made it, and it gave her one place to have a bunch of wedding pictures.

Maybe an engraved frame, and after the wedding give her a wedding picture to put in it. I've seen handkerchiefs with poems specifically for in-laws and parents. They're on various wedding websites. Or a piece of jewelry that you know she'll like.

We are giving both my parents and DF's parents a photo album with an invitation to come to our house for dinner once we have our pictures to choose what they would like to put in the album.

hahaa :rotfl: I need to get one of those for my FMIL too!

Can we send them on maybe a cruise together? and just say "oh sorry, i didnt realize it was the same time as the wedding" :rotfl:

Sorry but my FMIL is just out of control. I'm to the point I have to laugh about it.

This is a great thread! I love hearing the ideas...I am on the fence with the FMIL she is nice but not overly...She had to get used to the fact that I was not Spanish but that has worked out...There are times however where I would not mind getting her a one way ticket back home BUT we can't do that right?????:rolleyes1

I hear you Laura! My FMIL sent me a letter in the mail yesterday and when I got it my heart dropped. I honestly feared it was going to be this nasty letter saying don't marry my son! It was actually just a picture she took of the dog when we were visiting a couple of weeks ago

Just a quick note to you ladies-Laura and Jen If your mother in laws don't like you THEY ARE NUTS! You both have to be the most easy to get along with people I have met! Your MIL's should get on their brooms and fly away! WAIT there is the GIFT a new BROOM

Wait a minute!!! Can my FMIL go with them too?????

I'm not at the point yet where I can laugh about it. I need to be there though...b/c if not I'm going to go insane and not enjoy ANY of my engagement, planning, or wedding itself!

Let me know what cruise to book... :rotfl:

I am in the SAME position as you. I think I will just give her a card as well and the photo album after....

thanks for your thoughts, ladies.. I didn't chime in on my new MIL to be - she's an absolute sweetheart...however, my FORMER MIL , now her I'd LOVE to send anywhere FAR FAR AWAY!!!!!!!!!!! lol......oh well, don't have to deal with her anymore....a true blessing..

I was surfing ebay this morning and found a beautiful poem for my future MIL that I'm in the process of bidding on...then I'll have it matted & framed to give to her day of the wedding...but I loved some of the other ideas!
