Mike & Missy Plus Six-A 9/11/11 Dream Trip Report! Update-12/08-COMPLETE!!

The Dream is so beautiful! Hopefully one of these days I will get to cruise on the Dream/Fantasy but it won't be for a long time!

It really is, Lessa. It was so much more than I imagined! I was sad to hear that you cancelled your plans for the Fantasy! I hope that you do get to cruise on one of them soon, but I know you're really wanting to do the Med cruise as well. I know something will work out for you!

Love the pix so far! We were on this cruise as well - the 2nd half of our B2B. I love looking at pictures hoping to see us! I'll look through our photos and see if we have any with you guys in the background.

Love the Dream pics so far! Can't wait to see more!

Glad you're enjoying them, Kristi!

Thanks! I remember seeing you over on our cruise meet thread. Were you at the meet onboard? You'll have to let me know if you do happen to be in any of our pics!

Just wanted to post and let you guys know about our day yesterday...

I went with Mike to his appointment with the surgeon, and we were very relieved to hear that the Pathology report came back normal. There were no signs of undetected cancer or anything like that, so that was a huge weight lifted off us. He also said that the wound was healing well and that he was pleased with the way it looked. That made me feel a ton better knowing I've been packing it correctly!

So, we were having a great day until we got a call from the vet about our Basset Hound, Sadie. We had taken her in a few weeks back after we noticed a knot that had come up on her snout. They told us that it was an abcessed tooth that was infected, so they sent her home with some antibiotics and told us that once the infection went down we could bring her back and they would extract the tooth. Well, a couple weeks went by and the knot never went down, so we called the vet back to ask what to do. They told us to bring her in so that they could sedate her to do x-rays. Mike took her in yesterday morning and we waited all day to get the call that they now knew which tooth it was. Unfortunately, that wasn't the news that we got at all. It turns out, the knots are from cancerous tumors that have formed. The worst part is that there is nothing that can be done. We could try and give her radiation, but it would be very, very expensive as there are only two places around that would do it. The other thing is that because the tumors are so close to her brain and she is so old, the vet didn't think that she would make it. In his professional opinion, he suggested that we put her down so that she doesn't suffer anymore than she already has. Never in my life would I have imagined that we've have to do this. My heart is truly breaking. I know some people don't understand the human attachment to animals, but for us, our dogs are our children. :sad1: So sadly, our sweet Sadie Lou left us this morning and has gone on to the Rainbow Bridge. (For those of you who aren't familiar with what the Rainbow Bridge is, Google it.)

Thanks for listening!:sad2::grouphug:

Oh Missy, I am so sorry about your sweet furbaby. Several years ago we had to make that same decision when one of our cats had cancer in her tongue (cats cannot live without their tongues). Yes, our furbabies are as much a part of our families as everyone else. Please know you and Mike both are in my thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

Thank you, Cindy! It's always easier knowing others who've been through the same thing and understand. Your words really mean a lot.

Firstly I am so glad about Mike, that is wonderful news. But for you guys to have to go through that and to lose your wonderful lovey dog is just so sad. I am so so sorry  We recently lost one of our little guys and it was just terrible. I totally understand and am sending you and Mike lots of love and hugs.

Well those updates brought me joy and heartache. First the good news about Mike and his health and the fantastic check-in that you had on the Dream, to the downslide of the news of Sadie. :grouphug: Not sure what to say except I'm sooooooooooo happy to hear that Mike is doing better and I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. :flower3:

Thank you, Pam. I really, really appreciate your sweet words.

You always know what to say, Jennifer. Even the simple "Hugs" that you posted on my FB status made me feel better.

To ALL of you--You really have no idea how much your kind words mean. It's amazing how "total strangers" care! :grouphug: Y'all are definitely a ray of sunshine to me!:flower3:

 I am so sorry to hear about your puppy dog. Losing a pet is always so hard. I totally understand the human-animal bond. I have grieved for all of my pets after they have passed.

No, we missed the meet because the DVC welcome went long. :headache:

I am so sorry to hear about your beloved Sadie. Basset Hounds are a special breed and I have no doubt she is a well loved member of the family. Big hugs to you!

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dog. I know exactly what you are going through, we had to put ours down last year and it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. You will get through it, just don't ever forget her.

On the other hand, I am enjoying reading your TR and the pics.

Take care.

Thank you, Lessa. I know you understand...I can tell how much you love Marcus, even if he does live far away!:)

Darn!! Too bad that you missed the meet! I wish we'd been able to make it to one of the DVC presentations, but we never did!!

I'm pretty partial to Bassets...we had one growing up and I've loved them ever since. They are some of the sweetest most loving babies ever!!!

Thank you so much! I agree--that is definitely one of the hardest things we've ever had to do as well. It totally rips your heart out, that's for sure. I just have to keep reminding myself that she's not suffering anymore.

I'm glad you're enjoying the report! Hopefully it will get more upbeat and not so sad!:goodvibes

When I last left off, we had finally made it to our room and were thoroughly checking things out.

I decided to go ahead and unpack our carry-ons which contained our dinner clothes for the evening.

I had just gotten everything put away when our luggage started to arrive. I was really impressed as I don't remember it ever being delivered that early before. And since we still had a little time before the DIS meet at 3:30, I decided to go ahead and unpack while we had the time.

Once we left to head up to the meet, we still lacked a suitcase and our garmet bag, but I knew they'd probably be there by the time we made it back. Dustin #1 didn't want to go to the meet with us, so he walked over to see what Dustin #2 was up to.

Our meet was planned to happen in the atruim near the staircase so that we could get a group photo there. But once we arrived, no one was around, so we just hung out for a minute. Mike had to show Donald some love while we were there:

We finally found some other DIS'ers who were waiting over in the corner, so we walked over and said hello. And before we knew it, lots of people had arrived. We eventually all managed to gather there on the staircase for our group photo. Mike was going to take a pic with my camera, but a super sweet CM came over and offered to take it so that he could be included as well! First was the serious shot:

Then the CM's decided to take pics of one another:

And then our silly shot:

We ended up having a really large group of DIS'ers which was kinda cool, but I hardly had the chance to talk to anyone. I did get to meet Jennifer (wifey22). She and I had chatted a little before the cruise after finding out that she and her family were planning to head to Atlantis, so we'd planned to all share a cab together.

Since the meet didn't last very long, we still had a good bit of time before the Safety Drill, so we decided to take a tour of the ship to try and get acquainted with where everything was. We took pics of a ton of stuff, so I hope you're ready to see it all:
The first place we came to was the Walt Disney Theatre:

We then made our way through the Shutters area. (I have to say that I like how they've re-done this whole thing):

We then came upon the District:

Though I'm not a champagne drinker at all, I loved the design and decoration of Pink:

Next came Skyline:

We then headed back towards midship where we found the Vista Gallery. There were several pieces that I really loved:

We'd passed a good bit of time, and the Safety Drill was set to start soon, so we headed up to the stateroom to grab Dustin before heading out to our station on deck 4. When we made it back to the room, the last 2 pieces of luggage had arrived!

Up next: Bon Voyage! Part 2

Love the picture with Mike and Donald! Donald is my absolute favorite!

The ship is so pretty, I can't wait to see it in person. Those stars on the carpet in front of the District are so cute!

Missy and Family -
I am a longtime lurker and love your reports! I just wanted to tell you that the exact same thing happened to us to our younger dog - a border collie - 3 years ago. He had a broken tooth from a nylon bone, and I thought it was infection. We held out for a bit to say goodbye because of the shock, and the waiting outcome was heartbreaking. We tried a medication but no radiation etc. It seemed to speed up the whole thing. He started to stumble and we knew it was time. You made the right decision, and any loving pet owner knows when it is time to do that for their beloved furbaby. I had a basset hound for my first dog when I was a little kid. We never forget them, but they will be waiting for us! Many hugs and now I am crying too. :grouphug: You angel furbaby knows that you had her best interest at heart. After all dogs are many times wiser than we are!

In my emotional state I forgot to say it was lymphoma that he had not a swelling from infection.

What a great group shot of the DISers. Love it when there is such a tremendous turnout. And your photos around the ship are beautiful!
