Cathy, phenergan and compazine are prescription meds down here, but maybe not in Canada. I'm allergic to compazine, but I keep some phenergan suppositories in the fridge and that has kept me out of the emergency room more than once (it is usually intractable vomiting that sends me there and not the pain-- although pain relief is nice, too).
My doctor suggested Diamond Headache Clinic, but from what I've heard, read, etc. they really wouldn't be doing anything different than what he is doing as a specialist. They say they will follow people over the phone after an initial in person consult but when things don't work they want you to keep flying there.
