Might upgrade at the port

I am in a cat 11 and would like atleast a cat 8, I'd love to get a cat. 6. What should I expect to pay if we decide to upgrade at the port?

I've heard that this is the least expensive way to go. I won't be dissappointed if we don't get to upgrade. I'm thankful just to be cruising again!!!

Hi Donna! I don't think anyone can give you a definitive answer on that as the price is variable and subject to availability, of course. I think it's one of those things you'll have to see for yourself at the port, but going from a Cat. 11 to a 6 will probably several hundred dollars more. Good luck!

My DH and i took a second honeymoon cruise (our 2nd) on the 4 day Wonder 11/3-11/7. We had a cat 10 and inquired about an upgrade at the port. To upgrade to a 8 or 9 was about $275, to a 6 about $600. We did not, decided we'd rather spend the money onboard and were not dissappointed. Use the secret verandah on decks 7 or 8 and you'll feel like you have your own!!!

Thank you both for your replies. I just wasn't sure if it would be an option. This will be MIL's first cruise in 20 years. I talked her into Disney instead of Royal Carribbean even though Disney is more expensive. I know it will be a great experience no matter what!!

When I went on my cruise I called about 2 weeks ahead and asked if they ever gave complimentary upgrades or what the price would be to upgrade. We were in a cat. 6 (which was awesome) but figured if I got a really nice CM they may upgrade my on the spot. As luck would have it all cat. above 5 were sold out and since the cat 5 &6 are virtually the same we stayed where we were. But then at least I did not have that itch that either maybe we would be upgraded or would upgrade ourselves since it was not possible. We loved our Cat. 6 Room 6590. Have fun.

I'm not Chris, but I know how to get to the 'secret verandas'.

You just walk to the aft end of the ship on deck 7 and there are doors in the hallways that lead to the open veranda. The one on deck 7 can accomodate lots of people easily. The doors were locked after certain hours of the evening, maybe midnight I think, so that it didn't become a hang out spot for teens.

We cruised on the Halloween Magic cruise and upgraded at the port (Again,.. as we had done the same thing last year)
The cost to upgrade from cat 9 to 6 was only $350 for both of us, However to upgrade to a Cat 4 was over $750.00. We went for the 6 right away. We loved the Verandah and are now totally spoiled.

We are a cat 9 in December 2003. Would love to upgrade at the port. $350 doesn't seem that much. Will definetly do it if they offer. It is our 10th anniversary and my 40th birthday, so maybe it will happen. Would love a veranda for that cruise.

Make sure to tell them that it is your anniv. and bday and maybe you will receive a little pixie dust and be upgraded at no charge.

We have upgraded at the port on a 4 day cruise for just $200. for a family of 4. We were upgraded 4 categories. It usually depends on how empty the ship is and how long the trip is.
