Hi
we husband and I had covid around New Years
but now travelling in May with daughter and grandkids
gra go to school and have activities though
but are we ok If we were to have contact ( without knowing at the time ) with someone could we go anyway ? Should we take a chance and go up yonport
you ask some people
some say yes
some say no even if you had it you might still be asymptotic and give it
didn’t know we were going to stress this much with cruising as we loved it so much this is cruise #23
not easy to re start the travelling
as of now we try to limit our gatherings .. are so careful at work ..and hope for the best cause this cruise I dreamed of since May 2020

am I the only one who lets herself be worried This much

We rebooked our trip out of concern we would test positive. We are 3 x vaxxed. You are not alone, trust me. We are going to do a test at 90 days to see if we are positive but I expect we are not. We live on a farm and are retired. We were/are pretty careful with masks and distancing. We dont go to town unless we have to. The only weak link is my greats, two boys fortunately they are 6 and 9 and vaxxed too. Still we may not see as much of them this summer before our trip. I hope and think that pre departure testing will be over before our cruise.

I so understand
We also don’t gather almost slim to none
Triple vaxed also but even with that we manage to get / catch covid during the holidays and boy we were so careful

What I don’t know though is if by any way without catching it but learn we had a contact would we be able to board ? Just for being a contact
I cannot wait for May to come but live in constant worries

If you're a close contact of someone Covid positive within 14 days of cruising, you're supposed to cancel the cruise.

Covid is extremely easy to catch, and vaccines do not stop the spread. So there are no guarantees. That's why DCL is currently so generous with refunds.

If you test positive at the port you can't board. If you don't test positive at the port you can board.

Obviously, if you come in contact with someone in the weeks leading up to the cruise who you know has Covid you should test yourself to see if you got it.

I just saw on the news today that if you test positive for Covid on a PCR you should NOT test again for 90 days. They said it is very unlikely that you would catch it again so soon. If you test again within those 90 days and you are positive it is most likely due to lingering virus that is showing up but you are not contagious. This was stated by a doctor, not a news anchor.

DCL/Safe Passage knows that some can still test positive many weeks after infection that is why they offer the 90 Day Covid Recovered exemption. If you are approved for this exemption you are waived from testing at the port.

There is also a pre-cruise questionnaire that must be filled out. It will ask if you're a close contact of someone Covid positive, and if you are one, you won't be allowed to board.

We are booked on WBPC...bucket list trip, likely last DVC crossing for a while and using points originally used to book cruise in 2020. Use 'em or lose 'em. Lots of reason we want to be able to go. We have not left our house since 2/1 except for brief, masked trips to grocery store during off hours and church where we sit on the back row of the mask-required balcony. I'm going bonkers but only 11 more days.

oh boy
my post title will be almost right if you tell me this
we ( me and husband are very careful but still caught that virus this holiday
i see my daughter ( who will be travelling with us at least once a week
and son and his family Also regurlaly
school being where a lot of covid travels for sure kids are potentially more in chances of being without knowing it in contact with a classmate

boy oh boy as Mickey would say not easy to stay away from seing the family ( also Easter is not so far ) got visits

i know covid is quite easy to catch we all had it at Xmas / new year and this without even kissing hugging or anything

well we’ll guess we will maybe postponed Easter dinner for after cruise
but will still be nervous about the grandkids being in school and possibl’y be close to someone having it without knowing it

Hi
unfortunately for us we had covid this Xmas / new year
but were we live no pcr were available to be done ( they’re was a shortage of tests so only did a rapid test
since it will be more than 90 days I am not scared of testing positive still
since we weren’t thinking of cruising this spring at the time we caught it
haven’t done a doctors letter also

what I am dreading is let’s say for exemple me ..my daughter her kids were to be in contact with a positive case in the time we still have to do the cruise
we all work outside the house ..kids goes to school ..
i know some people get that virus twice ..
it is got to say so nerve wreaking and you worry so much

we might very most certainly all be alright

the good thing here in Canada they give you a box a month of rapid home test so we will tests ourselves in the days before leaving and be most vigilant

what I want to avoid is taking the plane and be turned away at port that would be devastating and we would then have to have a plan B to isolate ourselves
which I got to think of
I don’t know where ( hotel / resorts ) take positive families

was / am looking so forward to re cruise again ( cruise #23 ) but got yo say I am like a walking nerve wreak lolll

I get it. We sailed mid January during the height of Omicron outbreaks. My husband tested positive over the holidays too and I knew the cruise was in a few weeks so luckily he had no symptoms but tested positive on a PCR and was able to get to a doctor after a week or so and get a note from doctor that he was clear to travel. During the time there were no PCR appointments anywhere in our area. I wound up ordering PCR tests online that you do at home (monitored by someone on a Zoom meeting). Luckily things have calmed down considerably now so hopefully you all will OK at the port!!

We are booked on this cruise also and it's a bucket list for us too. :goodvibes:shamrock:
After Feb 1, I cut off all "optional" contact with others. We both still go to work and we had a small gathering (18 people) for my dad's 80th birthday 2 weeks ago. (I could not miss/neglect that.) Still, I was mocked on FB by a cousin for saying we were laying low for the month of Feb and declining a huge party for her dad's 90th (with the printed invitations stating to bring as many friends and family as we'd like to!) :scared: but yet still willing to have a dinner party for my own dad.
Also, about how she heard us say at another family function that we cruise often on DCL, so then how could another Disney cruise be a bucket list trip?
Ugh, some people... It reminds me why I don't do FB in the first place.

Anyway I'm glad I'm not the only one avoiding people for the month of Feb and calling it a bucket list cruise. We've been wanting to do a PC sailing since 2007 but kids in school always made it impossible. I'm sooo glad it's finally happening!
