We might get rain on our AK day. Will we still be able to see lots of animals on the walking trails? What if there's Lightning? What will shut down? Would they do the bird show?

Thanks!

In my experience, the animals are usually a lot more active in the rain. All of my best safari rides have been when it was pouring. Same with the walking trails. Lightning in the area will usually close all outdoor attractions.

It's become a joke in our house that we have NEVER been to AK without a downpour. True. It's a great park and though the rain can be monstrous, it leaves at some point. The only ride I've ever been on in the rain is Everest and I do NOT recommend that! Because of the speed, the rain was like a thousand little knives for the duration of the ride. Funny now. Not funny then.

What makes you say that? In Florida it always says it will rain. Positive energy that it’s just a quick sprinkle
Yeah, its the same in Hawaii. ALWAYS forecasts rain. But its raining in the mountains, beautiful at the beach. Rains are brief (usually).
But we did get soaked at MK one time late afternoon. We assumed the sun would come back out and dry us off. Waited for a lightning hold on Thunder Mountain, then when it started again it was still raining and soaked us. Then we did Splash. It was end of day and we had a res at Liberty Tree. Went down Main Street to buy some dry shirts but they were all closed. So we sat in Liberty Tree under the FREEZING air conditioning for the most uncomfortable meal I have ever eaten. So, sometimes it can be an issue, but its rare

Animal Kingdom is not a good park if there's lightning. Not that much is inside. If it's just rain and you don't mind wet feet (as with any park in the rain), then you're good to go.

I'll second that Everest (or any coaster for that matter) is no fun in the rain.

Wet masks are also extra no fun. We used to be poncho people but because of the wet mask situation on our last trip, bought a travel umbrella to bring!
