Might have to do POP instead of POR

thanks for all the positives about Pop - we'll be starting our 2wk vacation with 5nights there

we stayed in the 50s section, building 1 (i think) and the location was excellent, imo... although w/the ages of your children, the 70s might be better 'cause that's where the goofy fountains are, and it's equidistant to everything pop as the 50s section...

if you have not already done so, take a look thru the 'new groovy pop century thread' as there is a TON of info, pictures, etc there!

HUGS! I know it sucks when you have your heart set on something but POP isn't so bad.

POP has its own bus system unlike the other Values and even PO has to share a bus between Riverside and FQ. You kids will get a kick out of the big icons like the Jungle Book in the 70's?? section. And Lady and the Tramp in the 50's section.

They will also like being able to get unlimited refills of those frozen ICEE things (you know frozen cokes and blue raspberry) at the food court if you get those mugs.

Just remember you will be at Disney and it will be magical :)

ETA:
If you get the 50's section, bldg 2 on the 4th floor facing the parking lot, you can see Spaceship earth from there and some of the higher fireworks from Illuminations at night. We were on the 2nd floor in that bldg and just saw the EPCOT portion of Spaceship Earth (I like to call it the big ball :) ) and we could see some of the fireworks.

dont be sad about going to pop we just got back from por riverside and we cant wait to get back to pop..we love it there...the atmosphere..is wonderful....everything about the place just puts you in a great mood...you cant help but dance...

I think Pop is adorable and cute! And we stay DVC most of the time so I'm comparing Pop to deluxe. I especially liked the Hippy Dippy pool area at Pop. It had nice palm trees, pastel painted concrete around the pool area (very pretty) nice kiddie pool, and water pop up jets were around the corner for the kids to play in. I plan on staying at Pop again whenever I'm saving my points and want a cheap trip.

Plus, by the time your trip gets here you might be able to get a discount of some sort and move up to moderate if that's what you want.

We are in the same sort of boat. We got a new puppy a few weeks ago and we had not really been planning on it. With the extra expenses we'll have for him before our trip we decided to save money by switching from CS to Pop.

We stayed at Pop in Dec. and we loved it. We'd wanted to try somewhere different this time, and so staying at Pop again is not really a bad thing. It's not like we did not like it. We thought it was great.

The busses were not crowded and seemed to come freuqently, the food court was great. I had no problems with noise or anything like that either. :)

Thanks for the positive reply!

We'll save almost $400 by switching. I was kind of figuring that could go to food/souvienrs.

What do you think about the pools- are they crowded since it's a value resort? Is there a pool for each section (50's, 60's, etc.)?

We didn't really use the pools because we were there in Dec. but they never seemed crowded. There are plenty of them! The 50's, 60's and 80's have seperate pools.

We also loved POP. Our children really liked the icons and it is my youngest's favorite resort. We have stayed at POR and hated it. It is just too spread out for our tastes and the rooms are not much larger than the values. Don't worry. You will have a great time.
