I might finally get my DL trip but I have some issues. I have bee trying for year to get out to DL and every year the trip falls apart before it even begins. Yesterday dh was invited to a confrence in San Diego the first week of October. I figured we could tack on a few days to the end to do the DL Halloween party and a few days in the parks. So I have a few new issues

1) is transportation. The conference is at The Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego. When i have looked in DL trips I always planned on taxi or shuttle fees from the LAX to DL. Now I have the wrinkle of hotel to DL (we would taxi or shuttle from DL to LAX when we leave). One way car rentals are really expensive it seems as our taxi companies. Any suggestions with that? What is the best way to get from the hotel in San Diego to our hotel at Disney?

2) AP room rates. We both have WDW APs that are due to expire. Since they have to be renewed anyway, I was thinking of getting the passport, but Disney doesnt seem to have a standard AP room discount for fall (at least for WDW) and I cant access the DL AP site obviously to see what the room rates are when we would be there. Would someone mind checking? I am hoping for the 4th through the 8th of October.

3) other hotels. I am sure there is a thread (or 100) about the good neighbors, I just cant seem to find them (reviews, park proximity and such). Can you point me in the right direction? My limited experience googling good neighbors puts me at the convention center and on the map that doesnt seem to be all that close to the parks (we dont want to have to use a shuttle). I just dont know if I can stomach the full price of Disney resorts when the good neighbors seem nice and so much cheaper.

Sorry...limited on time. Here are my short answers...
1) You can take the Amtrak train from SD to Anaheim, then take a taxi to the hotel.
2) Call the hotel directly to get the AP rates. They will reserve if you do not have the pass in hand but intend to get one.
3) The good neighbor hotels you want to look into are located on Harbor Blvd across from DL. Hojo, FFI, BWPPI, CCI, etc. That is the best location within walking distance.

Amtrack. Never thought about it. I will look into that!

You also happen to be going during the unofficial "gay days" celebration at Disneyland. I read another thread on here about someone wondering if they can use the gay days rate, and it turns out that if you are there during that time-frame, then yes, you can. From other research I saw that people have even called the gay days administrator and were told it was absolutely ok. Rates were about 50% off if I remember correctly. So PPH was $169/night, DLH was $179/night and GCH was $225/night. :) Here is the link for ticket/booking info: http://www.mydisneymeetings.com/gcgj12a

WOW! Those are some nice low prices for onsite, thanks for the tip! Very tempting.... I will be good and wait until my planned November trip... but it's good to know for future planning!
