We might be relocating due to DH's job from Dallas (which I LOVE) to Austin. We are looking at the North Austin or Round Rock area.

If anyone is living or has lived in those areas that can tell me about things like schools, shopping, quality of life, etc....I would really appreciate it.

We really like the Teravista area of Round Rock.

This is all new - and not final - but I already have a pit in my stomach! It will mean I have to quit a job that I love and leave an area I've really grown to love. But, I've always said I would go where DH's job takes us....guess now I might have to follow through on that promise! :)

Thanks for any comments/suggestions about the area!!

We live in Pflugerville, right next to Round Rock and really like it. As you might be aware IKEA and those high end factory outlet stores are coming to RR. My friend that lives in RR and loves it. She lives in Nolans Crossing subdivision but it sure is far down the main road in RR.

where is your DH going to be working? those areas can be traffic nightmares if he is going into DT Austin or near UT. However, everyone I know who has relocated to Austin has loved it.

I don't think I've ever heard one complaint. We have several friends in the Auboredium area and in Cedar Park. DH grew up in the Westlake area.

He will be a District Sales Manager and his district will encompass all of Austin, San Antonio and Waco - he'll be on the road a lot all over the place. We thought North Austin/Round Rock/Cedar Park would be a good central location for when he has to hop on 35 and go either north or south.

Thanks for the feedback - keep it coming!!

My brother lives in Round Rock and he really likes it. His only complaint is that Round Rock is real conservative while Austin is quite liberal. (He's a liberal.)

He does tell me that housing in Round Rock is much more reasonable than in Austin itself. Traffic is awful of course but then traffic in some parts of DFW is no picnic either. You DH may have trouble going through Austin when he needs to head to San Antonio. You may want to live on whichever side most of his business will be if that's possible.

Can I say how jealous I will be if you do go? I just love that whole area; Austin and San Antonio, hill country, all of the lakes and the wonderful little towns. Plus you'll be close to Schlitterbahn and Sea World!
