Can anyone share details about the midway games on the Boardwalk? Our family will be eating dinner at the YBC on our first night and we'd like to take our boys to experience the entertainment/games afterwards. What types of games/activities are available? How much do they cost?

From what I recall it is a relatively small area with maybe a half dozen carnival/boardwalk type games such as shooting water pistols to pop a balloon, launching lobsters into a pot (a takeoff on the frog bog game), a baseketball shooting game, etc. I believe the cost was maybe $2 a try but there may have been a 3 tries for $5 option too. Since you will be there at night it should be open, as some day hours I ahve seen it closed, as well as when the weather is not cooperating. The entertainment is an evening/night thing too, and I recall magicians, jugglers and the like. But I am not sure if that is every night; it may be clustered more around the end of week/weekend nights. Perhaps at busier times of the year these days and hours are expanded. It is a nice area to stroll around in the evening regardless.

We were very disappointed with the Boardwalk games area. tiny little area and the CM's working the games barely interacted with my son at all. We were there on a Sunday evening so maybe that's why? no magicians or jugglers. and we were there before our 5:30 dinner ressie at Flying Fish as well as afterward.

We've never been impressed either and we stay in this area for at least part of every vacation.

The games were $2 apiece the last time we played and I agree, very little interaction. The CMs seemed bored. I only remember the basketball game and the lobster launch game; there might have been 1 or 2 more.

I can't believe I forgot about the games there! We don't go over there that often and its usually during the day when we do.

DD3 is obsessed with the carnival games that she played at DCA last November and I (completely not thinking) told her about the ones at DAK :sad2: We told her the next time we go she could play some more.

Fast forward to an unexpected weekend trip for the Pixar character thingy and and Mary Hadley is all set to go to AK - that's all she wants to do. We had planned on just doing Epcot since we're staying at BWV and coming back own to BCV 2 weeks later for our regular trip. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how to work DAK into our plans/dining, etc...

Knowing my daughter I'll not be able to get out of DAK - probably just going to end up paying for both game areas :lmao:

The carnival games at Animal Kingdom are much more satisfying. The Boardwalk is just there for atmosphere. They should be a quarter at the Boardwalk and just give some small prizes out to the kids.

The entertainment is great. The jugglers/magicians are all very entertaining. The games aren't real exciting and is just something to throw more money at. Although our kids don't seem to tire of them.

We thought the Boardwalk midway games were fun. The CMs were very nice and the kids won prizes without too many tries at all. We were there during a quiet time of day. At Animal Kingdom, we won nothing after many tries. The AK games were a disappointment for us.

The jugglers/magicians perform between 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM at random locations on the Boardwalk, so when you see a crowd of people standing in one area that means a show is going on.
