Midnight Dessert Buffet

I was looking at the western cruise navigators posted on www.castawayclub.com site and did not see any posting for the midnight dessert buffets. Have these been discontinued. Any past cruisers shed some light on the subject.

My question is: Is the midnight dessert buffet worth staying up for? We're early risers, so midnight is late for me but I love chocolate. Is it the same stuff you can get at the meals?

On our last cruise, it actually started at 11:15pm... if staying up late is an issue for you, you could always take it back to your room, stick it in your fridge and enjoy it the next day... I'm having a thought...
DESERT BREAKFAST!!!!!

Sorry, my Nana has been having a bad influence on me. Anyways, if you like desert (I would pass on dinner just to have more room for desert), this buffet is well worth it.

Now, if I remember correctly, and anyone is free to correct me, there was another night on our cruise where they had a similar desert buffet out on deck 9 and it was much earlier. I can't remember the details, but I'll try to find out from my family if they can remember.

Unforunately, it is not all chocolate like it used to be. There's a lot of chocolate, but there are other desserts too. Seems as though I had seen some of the desserts at meal time.
I'm an early riser too, but I made the trip and really enjoyed it. Do not pass it up.

That's a funny thing about DCL that I noticed. It seems that they don't always advertise the Midnight Dessert Buffet. In fact, on my three past 7-night Magic cruises, I don't recall ever seeing the buffet mentioned in the Navigators or had anyone (servers, etc.) mention it by word of mouth.

However, they do indeed hold this event and it is very much worth attending. Even if only to look at the presentation they put on!

I know that everyone has said how great the desserts are on the Buffet as well as in the restaurants but I am wondering....

Our family has gotton used to very, very, wonderful desserts, we live in the town where the Culinary Institute of America is located and we have access to their pastry/dessert creations-over the years we have come to realized that we have gotton very spoiled - for example, you know how everyone just loves the pastries at the France Pavillion or at Norway in EPCOT? well, we were quite unimpressed by them-they just didn't compare to what we are used to- don't mean to sound snobby
so, what's everyone's opinions? are we going to enjoy the desserts on the Magic?

Last week, on the western cruise, the buffet was held on Thursday night at 11:15PM. Our fabulous server, Andrew, made sure that we knew about it before we left the dining room that night. I didn't see it in the navigator.

I am looking at my navigator from Feb 5/04 (Thursday) It was semi-formal night and the Gala Dessert Buffett was from 11:15pm-12:15am at Lumiere's, Deck 3, midship....Enjoy!

The midnight dessert buffets ARE listed in the Navigators.

It's just not very eye-catching, as it's listed on page 4 under 'Other Dining Options'.

This was in the Eastern navigator, and it was third day at sea.

We missed the desserts too
We had the late dinner seating and I went back to the cabin before I went to the 12:01 Drama Queen premire. I don't even remember seeing it in the navigator. I probably would have been too full to eat any more desserts anyway. Desserts were the best part of any meal on board.
