Trying to start planning trip #3. DD would like it to be her graduation present. We had a really hard time getting our ds to do his homework after our last trip, so I'm thinking summer vacation- 10 days or so. Longer trip, more down time. Just wondering how miserable the crowds and weather are. DH dislikes them both.

We have been to WDW three times in June. Once it was so nice and unusually dry that the room windows didn't even steam up for several days.....but that was the exception.
It will likely be HOT and HUMID with thunderstorms most afternoons that ususally don't last too long.
Suggest you get to the parks before or at opening. You can get a lot done in a few hours before the big crowds hit at all the parks....EMH or not. We always do this and return to our resort for a break and then on to another park.
The evening EMH last June was way too crowded to enjoy.
Make sure everyone drinks a lot of water. It is very easy to get dehydrated in the Florida heat. I understand all the food vendors will give you free cups of ice and water. We normally just drink out of the fountains....I guess it's the heat but the water from the parks taste much better than in the resorts. Also, don't forget sunscreen.
We were there last June 15-23. It was crowded but manageable with early arrivals and Fast Passes until around the 21st when it got mobbed. All the parks after that were really crazy. Park hopping didn't even help. You may want to go as early as you can in June or wait until after August 15 when the crowds decrease due to schools opening in some places.

Hi - We were there this past June from the 16th - 26th. I will be honest, it was hot (mid 80's and up) and very humid! And we had thunderstorms practically every afternoon. But....we still had a blast!!!

The crowds were not that bad from what I remember. I think this is because a lot of schools don't finish until around the 20th.

We have been almost every season....heading back over President's Week, and I have to say that my favorite time is fall. The weather is awesome, crowds are low, and I just love the food and wine festival.

But if you can only go in the summer, I would definitely recommend June over July or August. I think the crowds just build from there.

I know a lot of people don't mind the almost daily thunderstorms, but it was not my favorite thing. I hate lightning!!! We did have our ponchos and kept going, but our shoes were wet and we had a stroller which was a pain to keep dry. So....it may be a little soggy and uncomfortable at times, but I think you can still have a wonderful time.

Happy planning!

So the crowds get a bit smaller after the first of August? That might work better for us. I'd like to have a "laid back" trip. Not do so much running this time!

Heading down June 12 - 21 :moped:
This will be our 5th June trip.
The crowds are a bit heavy the first couple days of June.... (tail end of a Memorial Day trip for some).
From like June 4 - 16 not bad at all. However it starts to get more and more crowded every day after that! :grouphug:
Last year we went June 12 - 21 also....... and we did not see a drop of rain until the last 2 days..... :goodvibes HeatherC.....you came in at the tail end of our trip.... so that must have been when the "summer" rains started. :confused3
It was not as humid as usual last year..... but when the rains came, so did the humidity.
The crowds really start to get heavy after the 20th! Then you are headed into the busiest part of summer.

We went June 4 - 14 in 2004 and it rained.... I should say POURED!! everyday! We went through quite a few ponchos..... lots of storms! We were told it was unusually wet that year!

If you go in knowing what to expect.... you will have an awesome time!!!
Don't let a few raindrops or crowded days ruin your trip! :cheer2:

In '03 it rained from morning to night...shredded $ store ponchos. We didn't care, were happy to be @ WDW for first trip in 20 yearsparty: !

We thought it was really hot & humid (we were wrapped in plastic!). Did seem to keep the crowds down through (can't imagine the locals venturing out in the deluge).

Last day, the sun came out & we realized just how hot & humid FL can get in June:faint: ...

We're going back same time this year, due to school schedules) and are praying for rain.

Good luck, enjoy the magic.

DH and I are thinking of taking DS the first week in June. We went last year the first weekin August and it was horrible. As soon as you walked out of your room you began to sweat. You didn't bother fixing your hair or makeup, witin minutes it was ruined.
I am hoping that June will be better.

Any time in June, July or August will be extremely hot and humid. The summer Florida sun is VERY intense, so if there are any fair-skinned people in your group make sure to use plenty of sunscreen ... or risk getting sun poisoning.

We went in July about 6 yr ago and I remember it being pretty great. Of course my mil reminds me that it was HOT. I like hot weather so I guess that's why I like it. They crowd wasn't too bad but then again it was my 1st time there and I was probably just excited to be there. LOL! Have fun!

OK to start, for the record I hate hot weather. I am a cold weather lover. I went in July 2001 and did not have a problem with the heat. Probably because you are going inside on many rides and shows where its air conditioned, we used a spray bottle/fan and the best reason is we were having lots of fun. Concerning the rain, it only rained once the whole seven days we were there so I wouldn't be scared off by the hot and rain thing. You just have to plan for the heat: Use sun screen, water fans, and drink lots of liquids and you will be fine. We also took no breaks in the afternoon and we were still fine after 7 days. Just a little tired the last day. As far as the rain I guess it just depends on the year or the week you are there but rain everyday in the summer is definately not a sure thing as many will lead you to believe.

We have been twice in June-both times hot and humid but we were fine-tank tops and shorts-midday breaks, lots of water and sunscreen!!
Have a blast! :sunny:

The first week of June is very hot and humid. It was usually around 93 the times I have been in June.
Perhaps not as intense as August, but right on the edge of intolerable.
You won't need to worry about hair and makeup. Just wear a hat.
You will be damp and soggy all day.

Last June it was so crowded we decided not to go in June again.

Hey Now!!!! Don't be praying for rain. We will be there the same dates as you in June. This is our first trip as a family, first for dh and kids. So please don't pray for RAIN? Pretty please!!!! I don't mind the afternood thunderstorms but I don't want constant rain all day long. I hate being wet and sticky.

June sounds miserable!!! No one go in June!!!

So we can have the parks to ourselves!!!!!! :rolleyes1

As bad as it may sound though I wouldn't worry about the heat. Just do the right things - drink water, afternoon breaks, water fans, etc. - and you will be fine.

If it was really that bad, Disney would be a ghost town :scared:  in the summer!!!

Coming from someone that lives in Florida, it is hot and humid!!!! We never go to any theme park that doesnt involve water during the summer. It's just too hot. Of course, I just go from my AC house to my AC car to my AC work as quickly as possible. We do typically get an afternoon thunderstorm most days in "typical" summer ie: no drought or July hurricanes

There is a reason we get the seasonal blackout dates... :rotfl: That being said, as far as crowds go, August is probably a better time to go as most schools in Florida start sometime early August whereas northerners normally go back around Labor Day??
