I just signed up for TSA Precheck and have a few upcoming flights. Was wondering if just having an initial for your middle name counts to have your name match for precheck? For example, my name on my passport is First Middle Last, but my airline profile is First M. Last.

Looking on the airline's website, they want an affidavit to fill out my name completely - totally understandable, but what a pain!

My understanding is that they want the full middle name if you have one; helps differentiate you from any same-named person who might end up on the no-fly list.

Has to be 100% match to the tee of your full legal name -first, middle, last, and including suffix if you have one. Using anything else opens up aliases you have to declare down the road and/or same named individual.

That exact situation happened with our daughter. Took about 6 months tomget it cleared up. Southwest suggested putting all the identifying information in her prifle as possible.

Welcome you will love it God knows I do

It will be interesting to see if the "free" TSA-Pre continues. I've never signed up and often get it. I just through out the airline information from the trip to Phoenix in March 2020 and I got it then both directions. Although anymore, not sure it saves me a whole lot of time.

My dad used to get free many times then it all kinda slowed down.. Sometimes his significant other would get but not him. Just made it easier for both to get it and not have to think about it. Updating ur airline Accts with all I do helps greatly

I think free Pre-check was intended to create awareness of this service and also to help fill up the lines so the they wouldn't be empty. In the past, I have randomly gotten free Pre-check when flying. Clearly they aren't going to make public their criteria. I purchased TSA pre-check prior to covid and found it a great time saver when going through security.

TSA pre-check is free? I thought there was an annual fee for it which is why I never signed up.

Randomly assigned Pre-check is free. If you want to purchase the 5 yr version there is a one-time fee, but many credit cards will reimburse you for it. There is no annual fee associated with getting TSA Pre-check.
