Middle May at 7 months

Is it possible to get a studio in mid May at 7 months out? I have enough frequent flyer miles to cover air fare from east coast now, but I'm a little worried I won't get a room at 7 months.

I don't know about the studios, but booked 14 nights in a 1 bedroom for DD's honeymoon in 2014, and just recently spent 14 nights in a 2 bedroom dedicated. I had no trouble whatsoever booking either at the 7-month mark. The honeymoon was May 25-June8 and the recent trip was May 7-21. Sorry I can't address studios specifically, but if the one bedroom and the two bedroom are any indication, you should be ok. That said, I did book when the 7 month window opened. I did not dilly-dally! ;-)

We've stayed at Aulani in mid-may twice now and had no problem getting a grand villa at the 7 month mark. Yes, I know the OP asked about a studio. Just relating my experience.

OP, I will be there with you sweating it out hoping to get a studio! I went in May 2014, immediately following Golden Week, and had no issues booking an island view studio at 7 months.
