Midday MK break plans?

I've been reading a lot about midday breaks from the parks, something we've never done but am considering this time around. We're staying at CBR in May, so it seems easy enough to take the skyliner back to the resort from HS or EP if we need it, but I'm thinking it might not make sense to go all the way back on our MK day. Maybe it makes sense to take the monorail or boat to one of the MK resorts to have it be its own kind of lowkey attraction. Which resort is the best for a midday recharge? I'm thinking a quiet lunch or dessert, drinks outside somewhere scenic, and exploring a new place might be nice. We only have 3 park days on this trip, so I don't want to eat up a ton of time, but I'm thinking it might be nice to have a nice escape plan if we start getting overwhelmed with standing in line and crowds.

What have you all done for your midday breaks at MK?

Pre-covid, we've hung out around Grand Floridian (boat rides and lunch at Gasparilla Island Grill) and the Poly (monorailed it and then adult beverages and sushi at Kona Cafe).

We used to be commandos, rope drop to fireworks, but since we got APs a couple of years ago, we've started doing a mid day break no matter what. The mod and deluxe resorts have such great pools and it's nice to hose off and put on a clean outfit for dinner.... we leave the parks around 1 or 2 and try to go back in around 6 or 7. But that won't work very well if the hours are reduced.

Yes, we've always been a rope drop to fireworks family as well, even when I had APs way back when. I'm just thinking during Covid, we might feel overwhelmed since it'll be our first outing in over a year, so I wanted to have an escape plan if we wanted something more quiet to do when all the lines are 60+ minutes in the sun.

Take the boat to Wilderness Lodge. Eat at Geyser Point. It's a lovely location, view of the water, very relaxing. Plus the food and drinks are good. If you have to wait for a table (they don't do ADRs there), find a spot to just sit and hang out. Before or afterwards, go sit in the lobby. I took a 10 min nap in one of those hugely tall reddish chairs near Whispering Canyon after we ate at Geyser Point in late January. Then browse through the gift shop. Take boat back to MK. You'll easily kill a couple of hours doing all that. You'll get some down time away from people and away from all the sensory input of the park, and then you'll be able to go back to MK relaxed and refreshed.

We always take our kids to the resort to swim. We usually leave around one, swim for a couple of hours, shower and are back at the park by five

Our last trip was at CBR and so is our upcoming one. MK is the only one that we won't consider a mid-day break from just because it is not convenient for us. Going back to CBR would eat up too much time so it is just easier (for us) to enjoy what we want to in the park and then go back. I think your idea of grabbing a meal at a MK resort sounds like a great idea. We are doing Whispering Canyon on one of our MK days and the Wave for another.
