Mid September Weather Packing

I am enjoying a day without my kiddos in the house so I decided to go through what clothes we might be taking down for our trip. I grabbed a jacket but then started questioning whether (weather :rotfl:) or not I should bother packing them for my daughter & I.

The parks will close at 8:00pm (weekday stay only) and the only night we'll be out past that, besides maybe a stroll through DTD, will be to see WOC.

Can someone tell me if the weather in mid Sept (19-23rd) warrants packing a jacket? Or will a jacket on the lighter side do us just fine. We're from the Pacific Northwest so we're used to and handle cooler temps quite fine but I don't want to be caught off guard by temps in the 40's or 50's while we're watching WOC.

Thank you.

A good place to check is www.wunderground.com/tripplanner. Just put in Anaheim and your dates and it will give you tons of weather info based on the past X years. We have been in September once (the last week) and it was in the 90s the whole time. It was actually hotter then than during the two August trips we have taken. I love 90s so I thought it was great! :)

I would bring a long sleeve shirt or two, or a sweatshirt/windbreaker just in case it cools off a bit in the evening, or if it happens to rain one day. But I think September in Anaheim is typically shorts & t-shirt weather!

September in Anaheim is more like Summer than Winter. That said, we bring a sweatshirt to wear with our shorts to DL all year round.

Last year, for this week in September, the Max Temperature was 98 °F and the Min Tempreture was 55 °F. It looks like it was a little warmer than that in 2007, 2008 and 2009. You can look up the historical data on wunderground.com.

Enjoy your trip. -- Suzanne

I would pack a light jacket. I was there at the beginning of May and highs were in the low 90's but it cooled off after sunset, especially with winds. Sunsets will be earlier in September.

Hey fellow PNW'er. We've taken 2 Sept trips. It has hit 90 on some days on both of our trips. They have the typical Seattle pattern of being cool early in the morning and getting cool with a bit of a breeze once the sun sets. I am a bit of a wimp with chills and wouldn't even consider NOT bringing a sweatshirt. We all prefer hoodies over jackets.

Thank you all for the responses. I liked that weather link that was posted. That's pretty cool. And a sweatshirt I think is what we'll be going with. Maybe that can be one of our first purchases once we arrive. Doing the "Oops, I forgot.. <this or that>.. so I guess I better go SHOPPING"! :rotfl: routine is always fun.

Last year we went in mid-September and the weather was gorgeous--sunny and a bit TOO hot for us PNW-ers. We were glad to escape into air-conditioning for lunch! Still, on Friday night when the park stayed open later and we were there after dark, we were down right cold after the sun went down and we were wishing for long pants.

On the other hand, just a couple of weeks (maybe less) after we arrived home, Anaheim experienced *insane* temps. It was all over the news, even here in the Seattle area--temps over 100 degrees. Ugh, it sounded down-right miserable! We were so glad to be home and not in Disneyland because we knew our PNW bodies would not have been able to handle that weather at all!

Thanks for this thread and everyone's input! I'm another person from Seattle that's headed to Disneyland in September (the end of the month though). I'm crossing my fingers for perfect summer-like weather!

I just want to say that I was so happy to read that you were already thinking of what to pack for a mid-September trip. We are going on September 24th and I have been dying to start packing already! I am glad I am not the only one who likes to think waay ahead! (secretly I think it is because I am so excited to go, I think if I pack my bags the date might roll around sooner!;))

We were there for that - not in Anaheim specifically but around LA and San Diego for the few days it was really, really hot...it was NOT fun! We really struggled to make it through the day at SD Zoo because of the heat so don't think we would have handled Disneyland too well - our cold little English bodies are probably less used to that kind of heat than even you PNW-ers!

Hoping temps are a bit more normal when we finally make it to DL in mid-September this year.

You'll want layers. Daytimes should be t-shirts and shorts (or pants if you're so inclined). It can get chilly at night, so I would bring a hoodie, but you (most likely) won't get so cold you'll need something more than a t-shirt and a hoodie.
