Mid-Priced WDW Resort Recommendations?

Hey Dis Community!

We're tentative planning a trip in late January. We've always stayed at the Pop Century (which we're very happy with), but we were thinking we might like to bump up the $ scale some. Any recommendations for on-property stays that are more expensive than the Pop but not way up there?

Well, the moderates are : POFQ, POR, CBR and CSR. CSR is the only one with queen beds. They are all priced about the same. Of those, I've stayed at POR and CBR and would definitely pick CBR over POR.

Another option you have is to stay at the Swan or Dolphin - these are not Disney owned, so you cannot have the dining plan or magical express, however, they do participate in the extra hours and you still get to use the transportation to the parks. The best part about these two resorts is that they are priced similar to a moderate resort but are more upscale and the location is fantastic.

They are located in the same area as the BWI and the YC/BC, so you can walk or boat to two of the parks - Epcot and DHS. You also have a short walk over to the BW at night, which is alot of fun.

There are so many choices - so good luck!

Hi 70s - I've stayed at all the moderates and personally prefer French Quarter. It's the only one with any kind of intimacy. Riverside is also very nice as is Caribbean, but I'm not a fan of Coronado.

The Swolphin would be my recommendation as well. :thumbsup2 You're in a Deluxe Resort Area, but at a much cheaper price. They also have discounts for teachers, servicemen, nurses or government workers.

Another thumbs up for Swan or Dolphin. Deluxe accomodations in a deluxe resort area, at prices sometimes less than moderates! You can't beat the location, you can walk or take the boat to DHS and Epcot!

You'll get recommendations for all of the mods, but I think it just comes down to personal choice: what appeals to you in the photos of the various resorts will probably be a good place to start. Honestly, I would pay attention to the positive comments people make about each resort, and I would take the negatives with a grain of salt. I'm not suggesting those people didn't have unpleasant experiences, but those things can happen to anyone, at any resort, from value to deluxe.

We stayed at CSR for our first WDW vacation, and then POFQ last year. Both places are great as far as we're concerned, even though they only share a few similarities. CSR is more upscale (queen beds + newer decor), larger, and has better restaurant choices (just an opinion) and pools. POFQ is smaller and more intimate, but still very nice, and it has the boats to downtown. On paper it would seem to offer less of everything, but we thought it was charming. Also, staying at POFQ allows you to use any of the facilities at the sister resort of POR.

We have never stayed at CBR or POR, but I wouldn't hesitate to try them. We just liked what we saw at the other two resorts, and we were very satisfied at both places.
