Mid march trip questions

We are going that same week. We were scheduled to go that same week last spring break, but obviously that got canceled. However we did go that week in March of 2018. I don't remember the weather being an issue and the crowds weren't any worse than the summer. But that's a moot point now with Covid.

We've been during all seasons, the most crowded for us was Thanksgiving week and December. But that was also when we had the best weather!

It's been kind of weird, because I haven't made any plans yet. We can't book restaurants for at least another week, and I still haven't decided which park for which day yet. Right now we have park reservations at HS for all of our days. But I will change that as soon our dining plans are scheduled. We normally like to go to the parks with EMH, but it doesn't look like that's gonna happen either. So it looks like we're just gonna wing it this round. But we're all SUPER excited about going, since we missed all of 2020!

No doubt if you keep your expectations realistic, you guys will have a great time!

We are going March 27th (that is our Spring Break). We had to reschedule from last year as we were slated to go 2 weeks after closure. We have always gone during Spring Break and the crowds have always been insane and the parks packed. We have had great luck with weather and we have still always had a great time. It will feel odd to us if the capacity is still 35%- we have always been shoulder to shoulder with guests. I am sad that not all the restaurants are open, the hours shortened, rules about park hopping etc. But, at this point- I just want to be somewhere magical and special with my family.

We usually go in late February/Early March for Mardi Gras at PO-FQ, but sadly that is not an option this year. Mardi Gras is quite a bit earlier this year and POFQ is sadly closed. We have settled on the first week of March to catch some of the Flower and Garden festival. It can be somewhat warm to cool but not nearly as hot or humid as summer. Since it is the change of the seasons, it can be pretty variable. We have been fortunate to have pretty good luck with rain the past 3 years (usually one rainy day per week). We pack both shorts and long pants/light jackets.

Average March temps are high 80, low 60. BUT, averages are worthless. Check the forecast a few days before the trip and plan accordingly.
As far as crowds, it will be crowded. But, what is your concern with crowds? Wait times? OR, social distancing?
Disney will adjust park and ride capacity and staffing to provide for the number of people.
You will wait for minor attractions 15 +/- 15 min. You will wait for major attractions 30 +/- 15 min...just like normal.
You will, at times, be in situations where people are not following Covid protocols. But, you can always walk away from those.
As vaccinations increase, cases will decrease, but who knows how far we'll get by March.
Go, be safe, enjoy.

I haven’t been to Disney since my teens were little. it’s been 12 years. i am SO excited to be going in a couple of months. we just booked. we will be there march 20-26. Did we pick a decent week crowd wise we didn’t have too many options of which week to pick but i knew we had to stay away from week before and after easter. i also know crowds are limited these days. But is this normally a busy week? also What should we expect for weather? thanks SOOOO much i’m very excited to begin planning. we just booked last night.

We were there this same time in 2019, and were days within leaving for this time in 2020 before the parks closed. We will be there March 18-26. In 2019 SDMT would have 180m wait times and I'm not seeing times that high even during the holiday crowds, so I'm hoping it will be slightly less crowded. The week we were there we thought it would be mostly warm and so didn't pack many long sleeves/pants and it ended up turning cooler than we anticipated. Watch the weather and pack accordingly, but prepare to add in enough opposite temp clothes in case it takes a turn like it did for us.

Hardest thing for us to figure out is ADRs. Some restaurants and transportation systems aren’t available like they used to be. Park hopping for dining is questionable.

I completely forgot about my ADR window opening but I was pleasantly surprised that there was still a ton of availability when I remembered this morning. That being said, a few tips from my covid-era trip:

1. Make dinner ADRs post-park closure (or at park closing if you want to have it all to yourself for photos!) With the early closures (BOO) you are going to want to have a plan to fill your evenings. For us, dinner at 7/8pm was a great way to entertain ourselves at night and still have time for late-night swims before bed.

2. You're correct that transportation options are more limited than you may be used to. IMO leaving the parks with the shortened hours isn't worth it, so pre-park breakfast ADR, lunch ADR, or planned quick-service with ordering ahead on the app are probably your best bets for time.

3. Winging it is also totally fine of course - even with all the changes we had an AMAZING time in September, and I am going back in March with my sister and can't wait! So many new-to-me places I have reservations for, plus looking forward to trying Nomad Lounge and/or Bar Riva, and taking her to my new favorite Abracadabar. She is much more whatever-in-the-moment than I am so we'll see how many of these plans actually stick XD
