Just back from our annual(great) early Feb. trip to WDW. We have never gone before in mid-June, but are considering a 4 night trip this mid June. What will the crowds and weather be like? We usually stay at Gf, but are thinking about YC-opinions.8 year old daughter, I think would like stormalong pool. I think we would approach this trip w/ less of a all day touring, on a schedule mentality, but am afraid we would fall back into our normal want to do,see everything mode, and would feel even more stress on a short stay. Sorry about, the ramble any advise on how to handle a short stay this time of the year? Thanks

Weather will be hot (90's) and nights are also very warm and humid. You can get a lot of rain -- sometimes just 3 or 4 twenty minute thunderstroms in afternoon to evening, sometimes all day rain (and that can be pouring). It will be very crowded particularly at MK, where you can get up to 90 minute lines for popular attractions and the fastpass return for them, if not acquired early, can get up to five hours or more. AK is also very crowded because it does not take many there to acheive that status. That park is an oven during that time because it is designed, with sidewalks exposed to the sun but otherwise surrounded by trees and foliage, to trap heat and provide no breeze. Best time for parks is early morning or after four for ones opened late.

Long ago stayed mainly at MK resorts. Then decided to stay at an Epcot resort. Will now never go back. Having the ability to walk to two parks (MGM and Epcot) and a huge number of restaurants cannot be beat. Stormalong is best hotel pool on site. The hotel rooms there are smaller than GF and other MK resorts though.

Thanks for the reply. Will the week days be less crowded than weekends, or with school out does it matter? Any feel for MGM and Epcot crowds this time of year? Lots of pm rain, kinda shoots the pm swim after am parks plan I quess? So I quess I'm still on the fence about this time of year!

We will be there mid-late June also. We have been twice in mid-August and I can't imagine the rain could be any worse than at that time!! Since you've been before, you will be able to have a much more laid back approach. During the summer months this is a terrific thing. Get to the parks as early as possible. Stay until lunch-time, go back to your resort and have something to eat, have a swim and just kick-back and relax. Then...late afternoon/early evening hit the parks again. Yes, it can be rainy. Have a poncho with you, especially during the afternoon times. Drink lots of water.
Yes, the crowds will be bigger than in early Feb. Since the southern schools have been out for quite awhile at this point, weekdays vs. weekends might not be an issue. You should be able to swim at any time. The only time they shut down the pools is if there is lightening. I have seen people in the pools at all times during the summer months...even in a torrential downpour. We found that the thunder storms in August really didn't start until around 3ish. So you'll still be able to swim after lunch. I will take the heat/rain over being cold in WDW any day, but that could be because I'm getting old. Just can't take the cold anymore.

You will actually find that weekends in parks other than MK tend to be somewhat lighter than weekdays, particularly at Epcot and AK. Many have a misconception that weekends are the most crowded because of local resident visits. What actually happens is that Sat and Sun are the two busiest travel days in and out of WDW by out-of-state visitors and those who are traveling on one of those days most often are not hitting a park. Nevertheless MK will be very crowded everyday.

Epcot crowds are generally manageable and most things other than Test Track and Mission Space are easy to get on anytime after 3 even if crowded mid-morning. MGM can have real heavy days and not so heavy days and unfortunately, it is hard to predict which day will be which because we have found, at that time of year, MGM doesn't really follow any rule that its early entry day is the most crowded and others are not. Similar to Epcot, many things can be fairly easy to get on after 4 except RnR, Tower, and Mermaid.

As to the PM swim, it just depends on the particular day. Also note, it is usually more rainy than August and less pattern-like than August. Just over the last 5 years: I have been in June when they had droughts and and saw a brief storm only once every three days; I have been when it is "normal" meaning 3 to 4 fairly brief but heavy storms a day often with the first one in early afternoon; I have been there when a low pressure system decided to just sit over the area for nine days dumping 10 inches of rain and basically just raining for about 18 hours out of every 24 (and that was mostly pouring constantly). It really isn't easily predictable what will happen in June.

I'm heading there with my parents, bro and his friend, and my gf on June 11th-25th. This is great info!! thanks!! I think we will enjoy it whatever (maybe 18hrs of rain per day will be a bit of a killer though!!).

Rich :)

We are big fans of off-season (early Dec, Jan, etc) but ended up at WDW last year from June 16-20 and then back again June 25-30. Crowds were much lighter than I'd expected. Weather was unbelievably hot. First time in about 15 trips we actually went back to the hotel mid-day and returned to WDW for the evening (can't do that in Jan..they aren't OPEN in the evening!). We did have some serious showers, or at least lots of big black clouds, almost every afternoon, whether we were in WDW or Cocoa Beach (dd was a space camp 6/20-21 so we stayed at Cocoa beach). Usually they were over in 20 mins, longest was about 2 hours...very heavy rain, didn't alleviate the humidity, but hey! We were in Disney World! ANyhow, I didn't think the crowds were horrendous and am considering a return this June. (But maybe we are more tolerant of waiting since we go 2x of 3x per year?)
