Mid-July thru Mid-Aug...when to go? Any advice?

We were planning on booking the last week of Aug. Something came up and we won't be able to go then. Wanted the end of Aug to avoid heavy crowds. We went last July over the 4th and it was just too crowded for us. I mean of course we enjoyed it. How can you not! But, we would really like to find a date between mid-July to mid-Aug that might not be as crowded as the 4th. Any advice? Much appreciated!!!

ANY time in that period will not be as crowded as July 4 week!

But once you get to mid-August, schools are beginning to open again and from around the 15th on, crowds are much lighter than they are earlier in August.
