Mid-end August or last week of September?

Hi everyone. I've been lurking here on the boards for a few years but this is my first post. My question is what time would be the best to visit Disney? I am either thinking mid to end of August 2007 (8/24-9/1) or end of September 2007 (9/28-10/6). I am trying to plan to be there just in case free dining comes out (keeping fingers crossed, it's the only way I can get my husband to go) and I know the love bugs are out in September but hoping to avoid the worst of it. Anyone have any advice on which is the better time?

Thank you all for your help.

Suzy

We normally go at the end of August and stay during Labor Day Weekend. It's a great time during the week because the crowds are low but then picks up for the weekend. By Labor Day the parks are thinning out again. We lucked out this past trip because the temps were in the mid 80's which was bearable and the humidity was not bad. Plus we were able to get in on the free dining. Instead of staying at a value resort which was originally booked we upgraded to AKL due to the free dining. It was a wonderful trip. We are already thinking of next years trip.

We are going to be there from September 28 to October 6th!

Of course, our reason for going at that time is because we want to be at Disney for our 1st anniversary.

Plus there is MNSSHP during that time, if you are interested in that.

I vote for the end of September. We went Oct 7-14 and the lovebugs had just left a few days before, it was pleasant weather without the humidity and crowds were low!

I went 8/27-9/05 this year and next year we're going 9/23-9/30 or 9/30-10/6

The crowds weren't too bad until labor day weekend and then it got kinda crazy, that I've never seen before and I go at Christmas time. Epcot had hour long waits for Soarin and test track (i've only seen it that long on NYE)

Thank you everyone for the advice. I am leaning towards the end of September because it's my birthday and if free dining is offered, I would still be eligible since I would be checking in just before it ended (if the same days are offered from this year). The only thing I worried about was the parks closing early but since it's just my husband and I  , I figure we could make ADR's at the resorts after the parks close, have a couple of romantic dinners and hit DTD and PI. I usually like going back to the resort and hanging out or taking a nap but I've always gone in the middle of summer so you need that break from the heat. I'm hoping that with the crowds being low, we will be able to do everything and still have time to take a break and smell the roses. (as you can see, I'm in commando mode when I'm there :lmao: )

I was lucky enough to go at both times this past year and the end of August was a little quieter than the end of Sept. The end of Aug. has more heat & humidity, but the end of Sept. has the start of the MNSSHP and the gearing up of the Food & Wine Fest.

HTH!!!

We were there this year the last week of Sept and it was great. We maybe grabbed 4 FP the whole week...most rides were 5-10 minute wait. We also had great weather.

We were there September 20-25th this year... got the free dining.. AND was able to go to a Mickey's not so scary halloween party, as they added a bunch from Mid September on!! We had hot weather.. low 90's the whole time, no rain, and NO CROWDS. I was worried free dining would bring in the people, but I was shocked that it was actually LESS croweded than when we go late in January. Only down side.. the love bugs were there in swarms!! You get used to them after the first few days, but, wow.. they ARE annoying! lol Id pick Septmeber, as you are still going to have families there who's kids arent back in school yet!
