Mid-day magic tickets?

In the process of planning a girls trip to the happiest place on earth this summer! We are more likely to shut the parks down rather than rope drop. A mid-day magic ticket would allow us to sleep in, eat breakfast, and spend time at the resort before heading out for the rest of the day.

Has anyone done the park-hopper with mid-day magic? Is it worth it or too much to take on?

I'm debating whether or not to do this for our upcoming trip in December. I'm leaning towards not getting DH mid-day tickets since it's such a short visit (3 nights/4 days). But maybe for Spring Break week if they're available?
In summer though? I like to get up early, go, and come back and relax during the hottest part of the day, and then go back later in the evening.
