Mid day break when staying 0.5 mile away?

Severely first world problems... we usually stay close to the crosswalk. This trip I booked the hotel with credit card points and ended up at Portofino suites which is 1/2 mile walk. When you stay farther out do you take a midday break or power through? I think the thought of walking back/ forth will be a deterrent for us. We can survive without a break but would likely be a bit happier and able to hang later at night with one...

Half a mile would be no problem for me, but I'm a pretty fast walker. Would trade 15 minutes of walking round-trip for a break if I needed one, no question.

Portofino is a pretty easy walk back and forth, however, barring special circumstances, I wouldn't do a mid-day break staying there. Special circumstances would be things like a toddler who needs a dark/quiet nap place instead of just a stroller and their lovey, or elderly parents coming/going part way through the day, etc.

There are some quiet-ish areas to get away from crowds for a bit of a break. One of our favorites is the Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. There's also the back edges of Tom Sawyer Island.

We took a break at homewood suites, which is a 20 min walk one way. But it was from 1-5ish each day.

If it’s that worrisome maybe take an Uber to the hotel at break. We can’t, need car seats.

You are talking about a 15-20 min walk. You can also arrange Uber. I'd take the break if you need one.

.5 miles isn’t that far. If you need it take th break. I almost always stay that far away when visiting and almost always take an afternoon break. I find I need an hour or 2 out of the sun and maybe a mini nap as we usually try to close the park.

I think a break is always worth it and I don’t find .5 miles to be that far. Considering I probably walk more than 10 miles throughout the day!

I know what you mean. I’ve done breaks, I’ve stayed from RP to close and I’ve tried taking breaks at the park depending on how my kids are doing. It’s hard to know in advance how everyone is feeling or how the weather will be, we hate the heat. If the idea of walking sounds daunting to you then you could always try in park breaks like a show, take a train ride or have a longer meal. You could try that one day and see if it works. There’s also the Halloween decorations and treats to check out at GCH. If you find it’s not relaxing enough then another day you could always go back to the hotel. You could always plan on starting one day later and taking it easy.

Thank you! When you are used to a 5 min walk a 15-20 min walk seems long! We will see how everyone feels. Sometimes it's hard to get the kids to rally after a break. I will pack our foldable booster in case we Uber.

The toy story shuttle could
Help too.

back in the "old" days, before entry times became so unpredictable, there were a few times we would break up the day with two trips back to the hotel to rest up.

now there are times that it is actually difficult to leave the parks. more so for Disneyland than California Adventure. there are a few times that it can take almost an hour to exit the park.

You can always take the Toy Story bus back and that would cut the walk down severely. Honestly, every time I stay around the TS lot, I always take their bus - saves the feet for the trip.
