Mid august or holidays for a 2 week vacation

Hello all,
SO just asking for a opinion, Planning our family vacation for 2023 ( hopefully playing it safe for more things to come back) would you go Mid August or the holidays we are staying at the Art of Animation and have a 10 day ticket

It depends on your tolerance for the heat (not sure where you're coming from) and crowds. August is BRUTALLY hot. I've lived in the southeast my entire life, and even I have a difficult time handling Orlando weather/humidity for a few hours without feeling like I'm going to melt into the ground. It's very, very exhausting and hard on the kids. Mid August will be lower crowds than the holidays, but if you plan correctly with FP+ (hoping they'll return someday!) and starting the park days early, we really like holidays even with level 10 crowds but better weather.

Every year, we usually alternate between late August and early-mid December. That way, one year we can take advantage of MNSSHP, and the next year, we can do MVMCP and the Candlelight Processional.

Like NashvilleMama said, August is brutal when it comes to the heat and humidity and we have to take at least one, maybe two breaks in the day. And you have to watch out for those afternoon storms. But August is great if you're pool people or love the water parks. The big upside is that it's far less crowded than December.

December wins when it comes to the weather. It's not hot or humid and most days can be very pleasant. If you're a fan of Christmas like we are, it's a pretty special time to be there with all the decorations and festive atmosphere. Decembers have gotten very crowded over the last few years, so don't follow that old advise of "Go in December because the crowds are low". It's not as good as August when it comes to swimming as sometimes it may be in the 50's or 60's and one water park is always down for refurbishment at that time.
If we had only one choice to make, we'd pick December.

The holidays! We have been there for 3 or 4 Thanksgiving weeks and also the beginning of December a few times and both felt just as crowded. We always have a few days in each park and make our ADRs and FPs and found it manageable and enjoyable. The decorations are amazing at the parks and resorts we always take time to resort hop and we enjoy the storytellers and Candlelight Processional at Epcot and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at MK. Plus the Christmas Tree Trail at Disney Springs. Hope they bring all of that back.

I have a friend who says she'd much rather melt in August than the year she went in December and they had to wear sweatshirts it was so freakishly cold.

Amazing decorations? I presume you are talking about the decorations 15 years ago before Disney became all about cost-cutting. While raising prices sky-high.

No contest for me: Holidays - the first two weeks of December.

Two very different trips.

Christmas to New Years is the busiest week of the year. Parks can close due to capacity. Weather can be a tossup. We've had trips where we could swim and others where we were in jackets.

August is HOT. I know people who go then but spend the afternoons in the hotel. Using mornings and nights for park time.

if I’m picking based on the fact that you haven’t been in a while and don’t go often, hands down holidays. If you can work it out to go in mid November before thanksgiving but after Jersey week you get the benefit of seeing all the holiday decor and attending a Christmas party if you want but with fewer crowds. The weather in November can be cooler but still may be warm but it definitely won’t be august humid and heat. We love November. It’s our second favorite time after late January/early February visits.

We go throughout summer and august is our least favorite month to go due to the heat and rainy season.

The holiday season is so much fun, yummy treats, cute decor, ride overlays, parades & shows (if they come back), it’s definitely a lot of fun and not to be missed and by far more enjoyable of a time to visit IMO.
