mid aug 05

hi! just wondering how the crowds are in mid august....I think some places are back in school, and I've heard that late aug is great. anyone been there around aug 16th or so?? TIA!

We have gone the last 2 weeks of August a few times in the past and the parks are not as crowded because alot of schools have already gone back. We are going this year the 17th thru the 30th. The hours are shortened so take advantage of EE if you can.

We're hoping to go mid-late August 2006 for my dd's 13th birthday. We love the beginning of May, but it's getting too hard to take the kids out of school. Anyone have any May/August comparisons?

We had always gone in early May. Last year, to avoid pulling the kids from school, we decided to try mid August. The crowds were not too bad but it rained every day. Some days the rain olny lasted a short time but other days it poured for hours. We like to go to the parks in the morning and do the pools in the afternoon. This did not work too well in August becuase evey afternoon it was raining.

Best trip we ever had was the last week of August. It was hot (but it was just as hot in the Northeast that year) and just passing showers. Except for Labor Day weekend, waits were less than 30 minutes.

Compared to our other visits (always during holidays) we enjoyed our time so much more because of the smaller crowds.
