Are you able to "rent" or request a microwave for a room as it doesn't appear any come with one (hotel type rooms). My Father is a diabetic and doesn't always monitor or eat when he should so sometimes we need to get some food for him somewhat fast. I was thinking it would be safer to have a microwave to have a breakfast sandwich or similar easy to zap for him.
Thanks for the help

It totally depends on where you're staying. I know some of the deluxe resorts have a few microwaves that you can request at check-in, but they are first come/first serve and not guaranteed.

The value and moderate resorts all have food court microwaves that you can use.

I would strongly urge you to have food available for him that does not depend upon being microwaved for those times when his blood sugar gets low. He needs to eat NOW if this happens and those couple of minutes to heat something when his sugars have crashed could be life and death. You'll want to be sure to carry some around the parks with you as well because there's no way you'll want to wait in line to buy something.

If he has trouble remembering to eat at regular intervals, I would suggest that the entire group plan to eat together at regular intervals just as a reminder to stop and eat. My youngest has to eat at regular intervals as well (she's not diabetic but she does have issues which require eating at regular intervals) so I literally write in stopping for snacks in our touring plans in addition to our meals.

There is a microwave available for guest use in the food court or quick service eatery at all Disney resorts. As the PP said, the deluxes and at least CSR among the moderates MAY have ones they can loan out for you.

I agree, please don't depend on having a microwave to get food to him quickly. Check your local drug store, there are all kinds of individually packaged snacks for diabetics that are made for just this purpose. Much easier to throw a couple of these in your bag for the day than have to worry about getting to a microwave when his blood sugar is crashing.

Thank you all for great responses. We do carry food and "emergency" supplies at all times, and (as a family) harp on him to "EAT" every couple of hours, etc. We're all very equipped with "Meat Sticks and Cheese Sticks" in backpacks and fanny packs. At a minimum, I'll be taking instant oatmeal (low or lowest sugar) and use the coffee maker in the room. I was hoping for the microwave for "our" convience with him but not as the primary source.
We've done Disneyland and Banff Alberta Canada as a family trip before so we shouldn't be surprised on this late November/Early December trip.
Thanks again for all the great responses.
