I work days and DH works nights. I need to make some meals that can be reheated in the microwave for his lunch/dinner the next day.

Fish - should never be reheated in microwave - ESPECIALLY AT WORK!

I haven't had the best luck with pork, except pulled pork {bbq} for sandwiches.

We are getting pretty sick of the same dishes.

Does anyone have any ideas or recipes that could work for us?

I agree about the fish! And the only pork I reheat that way is in sauerkraut & the juice from that keeps it moist.

Here are some things that reheat pretty well that DH likes to take:
chimichangas with sauce, but not the ones w/o
chicken divan
sloppy joes
chili
chicken or beef stew
taco or fajita meat & pack the rest of the goodies in bags
sausage or meatballs for spaghetti dinner for a sandwich
marinated, grilled chicken
breakfast casserole (shredded potatoes, sausage, eggs & cheese...we like breakfast for dinner :teeth: )
roast beef with gravy for a hot roast beef sandwich
shredded beef or turkey for sandwiches - stored & heated in some broth
chicken/turkey/beef pot pie (I make these out of leftovers)
stir fry

We eat a LOT of leftovers here...no one seems to mind as long as it's only once & not days & days & days of the same thing. :rotfl: Most of those things on the list are also served here for dinner. Maybe we're more tolerant of leftovers than others, but we find that many of the recipes are actually better the 2nd time around. Oddly, DH doesn't re-heat meatloaf. He'd rather have it cold in a sandwich. :confused3

most casseroles/stews and pasta dishes (with plenty of sauce) will reheat - lasagne and pasta bakes good as well. I also make up an extra shepherds pie etc. in a small microwave dish so it travels better :thumbsup2

Or a nice bowl of soup and some bread is nice, especially in winter.

In summer I take cold stuff - sandwiches, bulgar wheat or couscous salad etc.

DH usually takes leftovers to work for his lunch & dinner. Roast chicken with potatoes & veggies work well (add a bit of gravy to the meat if you have it), stews and casseroles (he likes pasta with meat sauce cooked with some onions and green peppers), lasagna (let sit a couple of minutes sot re set), meatloaf works really well as a meal or in a sandwich.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. Some of your ideas sound really good {breakfast casserole - yes}. Alot of your suggestions are things I have made when we worked the same shift and I have basically forgot about them.

Thanks for making dinner a little less boring.

Mary
